The 2024 Emmy Awards have found not just one star, but a father-son duo to take over hosting duties for this year’s ABC telecast in September.

On Friday, ABC announced that comedian/actor Eugene Levy and his son actor Dan Levy will emcee the 76th annual awards show that celebrates the best of TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” the Levys said in a statement to Variety.

“We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15,” it added.

Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, celebrated the first time a father and son will partner for the Emmys.

“Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” Erwich said.

Not only will this year be the first time for a father-son duo as emcees, but it’s also the first time since 2018 that the awards show has opted to have two people share the duties, making it only the second time in this century that it’s occurred, Variety noted.

TV Academy chair Cris Abrego said they are thrilled the Levys are hosting, calling it a big night for Eugene, who’s been nominated for his Apple TV+ series, “The Reluctant Traveler.”

“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” Abrego told Variety. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”

In 2020, Eugene and Dan, the co-creators of “Schitt’s Creek,” took home a record number of Emmys, winning in every major comedy category, THR noted.

The Emmys will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15 (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) on ABC, and streams the next day on Hulu, Variety noted.
