Elton John: Politicians Opposing LGBTQ ‘Away From God’

Music icon Elton John ascribes to the Pete Buttigieg school of theological thought — the kind that suggests Christians who believe homosexual acts to be sinful are the furthest away from God.

According to Newsbusters, John gave his theological exegesis during an interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin, where he made no distinction between people who believe homosexual acts to be sinful and people who treat members of the LGBT community with cruelty and hatred.

“We’re all God’s kids,” John said, implying that conservative Christians believe that he is not a child of God. “People who should know better in places of responsibility to attack gay people and transgender people . . . I think, to be honest with you, they claim to be close to God. They couldn’t be farther away from God if they tried.”

In the same interview, Elton John also advised LGBTQ youth to “leave” their homes if they are “unhappy.”

“Their parents don’t understand; religion gives them a hard time,” Elton John said.

John’s statement on the faithfulness of Christians who regard homosexuality as sinful nearly parallels recent statements made by 2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg, who said that God made him act out his homosexual desires and that people who have a problem with that have a problem with his creator.

“It’s something that really frustrates me because the hypocrisy is unbelievable,” Buttigieg said on “Meet The Press” earlier this year. “Here you have somebody who not only acts in a way that is not consistent with anything that I hear in scripture in church.”

Shortly thereafter, Buttigieg gave a speech at the LGBTQ Victory Fund National Champagne Brunch in Washington where he called out “the Mike Pences of the world” for believing homosexual actions were sinful.

“If me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade,” Buttigieg said. “And that’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. That if you got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me ― your quarrel, Sir, is with my creator.”

Elton John has been making the interview rounds in recent weeks alongside the release of his biopic, “Rocketman.” His statements have ranged from the politically incorrect to the mean-spirited, such as when he denounced his British citizenship due to the Brexit vote.

“I’m ashamed of my country for what it has done. It’s torn people apart,” Elton John said. “I am sick to death of politicians, especially British politicians. I am sick to death of Brexit. I am a European. I am not a stupid, colonial, imperialist English idiot.”

But not all has been dark and dismal in the wake of “Rocketman.” In fact, the music icon shot a giant hole in one of the cultural leftists’ sacred cows when he said that straight actors should be able to play gay characters in films.

“That’s all bulls***, I’m sorry,” John said in an interview. “If people don’t like it, review-wise, or it doesn’t make one dollar, it’s the movie I wanted to make and that’s all that counts. I can look back and say, ‘You know what, I love it. I can live with it.’”
