Actress and television talk show host Drew Barrymore was quick to respond when a fan broke down in tears during a recent taping of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” crossing the set to comfort the woman and demanding to know who had made her cry.
Barrymore spent a few moments talking to the woman, who said she was just a huge fan and was feeling a little overwhelmed — and afterward, the show’s official Instagram account shared video of the exchange on Thursday.

The actress was seated on set with her guests when she noticed that a woman in the audience was crying. Barrymore got to her feet, asking, “Are you okay? Did anything happen? Whose a** do I have to kick?”
The audience laughed as Barrymore crossed the set to talk to the woman, who waved her hands to fan herself as she got closer. “She loves you so much,” the woman’s friend explained.
“Oh! Oh, God, thank God it’s nothing bad,” Barrymore said as the woman reassured her that she was okay. “Did you see me coming up here? I was like, tell me where they are! Because I will take them down, who made you cry?”
The audience continued to laugh as the woman regained her composure, explaining that Barrymore had been her “childhood idol,” but that she hadn’t wanted to be “that person,” the one who got emotional during the taping — and Barrymore interrupted.

“Oh, screw that, be that person!” she said, and she walked around the barrier and into the audience seating area to give the woman, who said her name was Olivia, a hug.
“I don’t know why I have the urge to do this,” Barrymore joked, sitting on the woman’s lap and hugging her again. “This is such an honor for me to meet you, I’m sorry, I have dumpling breath.”
Getting up to go back to taping, Barrymore added, “It’s so funny that you would say that you don’t want to cry here, I cry here all the time.”
