A drag queen scheduled to perform for House Democrats once roasted Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell on social media for his COVID-19 commentary.
A Wednesday evening reception for the House Democratsâ retreat hosted by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chair Sean Patrick Maloney will feature âmusical entertainmentâ from drag queen Lady Bunny, Politico Playbook reported Wednesday, noting that Lady Bunnyâs shows are âknown for rejecting political correctness.â
The drag queen has previously called out Swalwell for demanding that airlines ban unvaccinated flyers and suggested that President Joe Biden is both âsenileâ and a âliar.â
âWow. If Dems go this route, they are begging to lose,â the drag queen tweeted in January 2022, reacting to suggestions that failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton may run again. âWhat will the slogan be? âWe know Joeâs a corporate hawk and a liar. But unlike Biden, Hillaryâs not senile!'â

âOn a flight now to Bay Area and it is one-hundred percent batty that the unvaccinated are allowed to fly,â Swalwell tweeted in December 2021. âItâs unsafe in the cabin and we are transporting the virus. Requiring the vaccine to fly is the LEAST we can do to stop the spread.â
âIâm vaccinated and boosted,â replied the drag queen. âBut are you not aware that vaccinated people can also transmit and get COVID? So youâre essentially saying âNo one should fly.'â
âPS,â Lady Bunny added. âHereâs a pic of you wearing the least effective kind of mask. Maybe YOU shouldnât be on planesâŚâ
Swalwell did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire, nor did DCCC Chair Maloney.

Multiple Republican lawmakers weighed in on news of the drag queenâs upcoming performance.
âThis is actually quite illuminating on a day where we have to pass a bill to find out whatâs in it,â Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy told The Daily Wire, referring to the massive omnibus spending bill, the text of which was released very early Wednesday morning.
âPelosi & House Democrats are rushing through a vote today on a massive $1.5 trillion omnibus spending package b/c they have a previously scheduled retreat in Philadelphia this eveningâfeaturing some interesting âentertainment,'â tweeted Republican Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson. âYou canât make this stuff up.â

âDemocrats are headed to a 3 day âissuesâ retreat in Philadelphia,â tweeted Republican Indiana Rep. Jim Banks. âWhatâs not on the agenda? Any mention of gas prices or the crime crisis. What is? A discussion on âArt and Activism,â a panel with liberal union leaders, and a drag queen performance.â

Further review of Lady Bunnyâs Twitter shows that though a self-identified âprogressive,â the drag queen is skeptical of the governmentâs handling of COVID-19 and has concerns about how the virus will effect the public going forward.
âCreator of Wigstock, Dean Of Drag on RuPaulâs Drag U, comedienne/DJ/singer/staunch progressive & foreskin inspector who loves to laugh,â the drag queenâs Twitter bio says.
Politico Playbook also reported that the House Democrats will be entertained by âPhiladelphiaâs own âThe Magnificentâ DJ Jazzy Jeff,â on Thursday. The DJ is âmaybe best known as Will Smithâs partner in hip-hop for nearly a decade and his best friend Jazz on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (the original, not the recent reboot),â according to the publication.
President Joe Biden, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, and top White House climate advisor Gina McCarthy will also address the Democratic lawmakers at the annual retreat.
The president will discuss Russiaâs ongoing invasion of Ukraine and his sanctions agenda towards Russia, the Hill reported. The publication noted that his appearance at a partisan strategy session during such tense times may open him up to GOP criticism at a time when his approval ratings remain low.
