Moviegoers have already enjoyed two blockbusters that have actually lived up to the hype in 2018, so will “Solo: A Star Wars Story” hold up its end of the bargain?
While official reviews won’t be released until May 15, some initial reactions are in from reviewers who tweeted out their first takes after getting a chance to be at the first public screening of the Ron Howard-directed film Thursday night. While responses aren’t as overwhelmingly good as they were to “Black Panther” and “Infinity War,” overall, reviewers are telling fans to get ready for an “absolute blast” in two weeks. Below are some reviewer responses, highlighted by USA Today, organized from most enthused to a little more ambivalent.
Some of the reviewers were “completely floored,” including IGM’s Jacki Jing, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, Mashable’s Chris Taylor, and Nerdist’s Michelle Buchman:
