Do Democrats Hate Women? New Campaign Takes Aim At Leftist Hypocrisy

"Politicians don’t HATE, they USE. Women are just pawns in their power games.”

Democrats have long claimed to be champions of women’s rights. But a provocative new campaign is challenging this narrative.

Independent Women’s Voice’s new series “People, Not Pawns” exposes hypocrisies that lie just below the surface of widely accepted leftist ideologies by highlighting the negative impacts of hot-button culture issues, such as men taking over women’s sports and prolonged school closures. The campaign is built around a provocative question: does the Left view women as people or pawns in political power games?

“With the 2026 midterms approaching, politicians are once again telling Americans who they stand for. Independent Women’s Voice is turning that question around: What happens when the people politicians claim to champion become inconvenient to the ideology they’re advancing?” Independent Women’s Voice wrote in a press release. “The ads tackle women’s sports and single-sex spaces, the disappearance of the tomboy, pandemic-era policies affecting children, and the tension between the gay-rights movement’s message of self-acceptance and contemporary gender ideology.”

One video, titled “Do Democrats Hate Women?” shows a female athlete losing an athletic competition to a male athlete. It highlights how feminists spent years fighting to give young women equal opportunities in sports — only for modern leftists to hand over the protections of Title IX to “transgender” males.

“For decades, we feminists fought for women to have our own teams, our own records, our own opportunities,” states the video. “Because male and female bodies aren’t the same. And then somehow saying that became… hateful. Women asked for fairness. Privacy. A level playing field, Title IX — and the answer was: your feelings don’t matter.”

“Does the Left hate women? If not, why won’t they listen when women say they’re the ones being hurt?” the ad asks. “Nah — it’s much colder. Politicians don’t HATE, they USE. Women are just pawns in their power games.”

A video titled “Bring Back the Tomboy” shows a split screen of two mothers—one from 1975 and the other from 2026. Both moms ask their tomboy daughters, “You don’t like dresses?”

The 1975 mom tells her daughter, “You don’t like dresses? So what? You’re still a girl. Girls can do anything boys can do.” The 2026 mom asks her daughter a very different question. “You don’t like dresses?” she says. “Have you ever wondered whether you might actually be a boy?”

The girl turns to the viewer and asks, “Wait. Weren’t you the ones who told me stereotypes don’t define me?” The video ends by asking the audience if “the left hates girls” or simply views them as “disposable pawns in their power games.”

Independent Women’s Voice CEO Heather R. Higgins tells The Daily Wire that while the videos are intentionally provocative, the underlying questions are very serious.

“The headlines are deliberately provocative. But the real questions underneath them deserve serious answers. Are policies delivering what was promised? Who benefits? Who bears the costs?” Higgins said. “Good intentions are not the same as good outcomes. We want people to look beyond the slogans and ask a simple question: What actually happened to the people these policies were supposed to help?”

Independent Women’s Voice told The Daily Wire it conducted research showing this messaging that highlights the gap between the aspirations of leftist policies and the real-world outcomes they produce is very persuasive with independent audiences. The group tested similar non-conventional political ads on more than 1,700 moderate and independent voters and found they were successful in persuading audiences to see issues differently.

Independent Women’s Voice Vice President Jordanne Kemper tells The Daily Wire that reaching “new people and independent thinkers” requires outside-the-box thinking.

“Taking creative risks means some ideas will be unconventional. That’s the point. If we’re going to reach new people and independent thinkers, we can’t keep communicating in the same ways everyone else does,” Kemper said. “We are not interested in making ads ‘just because.’ We’re interested in making something people actually want to watch, share, think about differently, etc. It’s been a great deal of fun and rewarding to see this content is moving the needle with Americans.”

Higgins tells The Daily Wire she hopes viewers will examine the costs of leftist policies.

“It’s easy to agree on noble goals. What’s harder — and more important — is examining whether the policies adopted in their name actually achieve them, and at what cost,” Higgins said. “We’re not asking people to take our conclusions on faith. We’re asking them to look at the evidence, challenge the assumptions, and decide for themselves.”
