President Joe Biden took the stage at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) nearly an hour after he was scheduled to appear, and delivered a shouted litany of his supposed accomplishments interspersed with debunked talking points.

A triumphant Biden declared, “Democracy has prevailed. Democracy has delivered. Democracy must be preserved” — but as some pointed out, “Joe Biden was deposed in a coup by his own his party less than a month ago.”

“Biden bringing up Charlottesville while ignoring the thousands of Hamas Nazis right outside the very place he is speaking,” Katie Pavlich posted after Biden referenced the Charlottesville riots and Biden’s oft-repeated but debunked claim that Trump had claimed the neo-Nazis there were “fine people.”

“This Biden speech is loud, angry, negative, devoid of anything resembling policy, and patently dishonest,” Joe Concha added.

Guy Benson said, “POTUS is telling Biden-Harris’ tendentious, triumphal story. His economic approval rating is 20 points underwater. Right track/wrong track is 40 points underwater. Biden opened this speech by saying, ‘America, I love you!’ The feeling is not mutual.”

After running later and later throughout the evening, President Joe Biden — who was advertised as “speaking in primetime” on night one of the convention — finally walked onstage just before 11:30 pm ET.

Just over a month after a would-be assassin shot former President Donald Trump in the head at a Pennsylvania rally — gravely injuring two others and killing hero firefighter Corey Comperatore — Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) told Americans that Trump was a “clear and present threat” to everything they hold dear: “He is a plague on the American conscience.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin took a moment to attack the legitimacy of the Supreme Court, referring to the judiciary as Donald Trump’s “kangaroo court.”

As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton walked off the stage, CNN commentators observed that she had never gotten such a positive reaction — even at her own nomination in 2016.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to recalibrate on the fly after reading the same sentence off the teleprompter twice.

She also claimed that Trump would “sell this country for a dollar” if he thought he could turn a profit on it, ignoring the fact that the House GOP’s report — released just hours earlier — indicated Biden and his family had done just that: “defrauded the United States to enrich his family.”

Multiple Democrats spoke about President Joe Biden’s upcoming speech as though he had voluntarily stepped aside rather than being dumped by the party after his campaign had gotten him through the primary.

Actor and director Rob Reiner:

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (who was among the high-ranking Democrats calling for Biden to step aside):

Vice President Kamala Harris – the Democratic Party’s de facto nominee since President Biden was unceremoniously booted from the top of the ticket — made a surprise trip to the main stage on Monday to thank Biden for his “historic leadership,” prompting critics to point out that she was basically thanking him for not fighting back when the party organized a coup and shoved him aside. Another pointed out that since Biden was only speaking on Monday, Harris was effectively “upstaging” him on his one evening in the spotlight.

Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) bragged about the fact that former President Trump — whose business built much of New York — wasn’t spending much time in the state any more after he was “convicted of 34 felonies, and that’s just fine with us.”

CNN spoke to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — who many people say was the driving force behind the ouster of President Joe Biden from the Democratic Party’s 2024 ticket — and asked whether she’d spoken to Biden since he bowed out of the race.

“I did what I had to do,” was Pelosi’s reply. “My concern was not about the president, it was about his campaign.”

While a series of Democrats too the stage in brief intervals to rave about the Biden-Harris administration — repeatedly praising Biden with capping insulin at $35 for seniors, even though he first had to rescind former President Trump’s order capping insulin costs to claim credit for it — CNN discussed President Joe Biden’s upcoming key-note address.

“Biden is known in his career as being one of the best eulogy givers at funerals and now they’re making him come and give his own eulogy at this convention,” Republican commentator Scott Jennings said. “He was bullied of this race after 52 years of service to the Democratic Party. And it wasn‘t all about his age. He was unpopular. He was going to lose. It was Afghanistan. It was inflation. It was immigration. And he had to be dragged out by his fingernails.”

Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH) turned the attack on vice presidential nominee and Senator JD Vance (R-OH), criticizing him for starting out poor and overcoming the odds, getting an Ivy League education and writing the best-selling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy.”

“JD Vance likes to talk about how he’s from Ohio but as soon as he could, he ran away to Yale,” she complained.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson made a brief appearance at the Democratic National Convention, and received a standing ovation. Former President Donald Trump’s campaign pointed out the fact that Jackson, like many other Democrats, had loved Trump long before they hated him. In 1999, Jackson referred to Trump as a “friend,” and cheered his efforts to aid “under-served communities.”

Before the first scheduled speakers even took the stage on Monday, protesters outside the Venus had already breaches one of the fences put in place by law enforcement ahead of the event.

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicks off Monday, and already, it’s looking like Democrats may have to issue a public apology for sullying the good name of a “dumpster fire.”

What’s happening?

Outside the McCormick Center in downtown Chicago, Illinois, police are bracing for the arrival of Democratic Party members, delegates, guests, and celebrities — along with an assortment of protesters, most of whom are there to protest the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Local businesses have prepared for the protests by boarding up their windows in hopes of discouraging looters. A Planned Parenthood mobile facility is stationed outside the venue so convention goers can obtain free abortions or vasectomies while in town.

Who’s there? Who’s not there?

In addition to the delegates and superdelegates, prominent members of the Democratic Party and a host of celebrities are expected to join the crowd. Several family members of hostages still being held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza are also expected to attend. Key figures who won’t be on hand include Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Jon Tester (D-MT).

Who’s speaking?

“Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn will serve as emcee on Monday, where featured speakers include President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. James Taylor, Mickey Guyton, and Jason Isbell are all scheduled to perform.

What are people saying about it?

Before the doors have even opened, pro-Hamas protesters on the street have already begun to clash with police.

“The DNC this week has: 1) A massive shrine (inflatable IUD) 2) Ritual mutilations (vasectomies) 3) Child sacrifices (abortions) It’s not a political party, it’s a pagan death cult,” another shared.
