Leftist Democrats have long mocked the notion of voter fraud, dismissing it as an insidious myth invented by racist Republicans in order to suppress the minority vote. However, yet another report has shown that voter fraud is very much a real thing.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, public records extracted by the Public Interest Legal Foundation revealed that there were “1046 aliens who were illegally registered to vote out of the small sample of eight Virginia counties who responded to their public records requests.”
“Even in this small sample, when the voting history of this small sample of alien registrants is examined, nearly 200 verified ballots were cast before they were removed from the rolls,” the organization stated. “Each one of them is likely a felony.”
In the city of Philadelphia, the group learned that at least 86 non-citizens registered, and 40 of those had definitely voted before they were purged. There were also “thousands of felons” that are still “on the voter rolls despite having to be removed once incarcerated,” as well as the fact that “the number of registered voters within the city have for years nearly exceeded the number who are eligible to vote.”
These are not isolated incidents. Voter fraud is actually more common than the left would have you to believe, as the Daily Wire has explained:
In 2012, the Pew Research Center found the following:
- There were almost “24 million active voter registrations in the U.S. either invalid or inaccurate.”
- Almost two million dead Americans were still on the active voting lists.
- 12 million voter records were riddled with “incorrect addresses or other errors.”
- Almost 2.75 million voters were registered in over one state.
It goes without saying that the aforementioned numbers open the door for voter fraud. There are several documented instances of voter fraud, as Hans von Spakovsky has chronicled here and here.
According to von Spakovsky, there were ballots with “the names of 5,412 registered voters after people with matching names had died” in the 2000 election in Fulton County, GA. He has also cited the Cooperative Congressional Election Study, which concluded “that 6.4% of all noncitizens voted illegally in the 2008 presidential election, and 2.2% voted in the 2010 midterms.”
Even a tiny amount of voter fraud can swing close elections.
The left’s penchant for thumbing their nose at the concept of voter fraud is a facade of elitist snobbery in order to hide the fact that they want to win by hook or by crook, even if it requires turning a blind eye when the law is broken.
