A Democratic business leader discussed the migrant crisis, saying that Hispanic business owners “are screaming at the top of their lungs” about illegal migration and what will happen if Title 42 ends.

Javier Palomarez, the president of the U.S. Hispanic Business Council (USHBC), spoke to Fox News’ “America Reports” on Wednesday. Palomarez discussed the issues that are facing small businesses already, even without the problems at the border.

“On top of that, you’ve got this situation. It has become easier for an immigrant to come here and work illegally, enter the country illegally, work under the table than it is to follow the proper path,” he pointed out.

“We need the labor,” he added, going on to say that they “can’t get to” the labor “in its current construct.”

“I’m a Democrat. I voted for Joe Biden and I’m pleading with him to come down here and illustrate that he cares of the people of south Texas,” he said.

“Everybody here, male, female, Republican, Democrat, every end of the spectrum here, everybody agrees on one thing: this is a crisis and we need attention from Washington, we need action from our leaders,” he added.

He was asked if he would vote for President Joe Biden again. After chuckling, Palomarez said, “We’ll see, but I [have] got to tell you — the Democrats are going to make a Republican out of me.”

The USHBC’s website notes that it promotes “policies and people that represent our nation’s diverse population, future economy, and the changing face of America.”

The migrant situation on the border has threatened to reach a crisis level in recent days after the Title 42 border policy was set to stop. The policy was put into place during the Trump administration and allowed U.S. Border officials to quickly send back illegal immigrants coming into the country, as well as those seeking asylum, due to COVID-19.

The rule was set to end this week, causing border cities to get ready for a potential increase of migrants to their areas. Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily halted the ending of the policy on Monday since Republican-led states had put forward an emergency request to keep the policy. A decision had not been made on their appeal.

The Biden administration, however, wants to see it end and asked the Supreme Court to not pay attention to the request. It also wants the high court to keep it in place until December 27 at least in order to get ready for the large amounts of migrants that will likely come into the country.

Border towns have been dealing with the surge of migrants for some time as rhetoric from the Biden administration has encouraged migrants to come to the United States seeking a better life. As of October, border officials came into contact with over 2 million migrants this fiscal year. Last fiscal year, that number was at 1.7 million.

In El Paso, Texas, the mayor put out an emergency declaration on Saturday night in order to deal with the uptick in migrants coming across the border between the United States and Mexico.

“I said from the beginning that I would call [a state of emergency] when I felt that either our asylum-seekers or our community was not safe,” Mayor Oscar Leeser said at a news conference on Saturday. “I really believe that today our asylum-seekers are not safe as we have hundreds and hundreds on the streets, and that’s not the way we want to treat people.”
