Democrat Rep. Linda Sanchez (CA) claimed in a statement Friday afternoon that she flipped off the Republican dugout during Thursday night’s Congressional Baseball Game because she heard a sexist remark being made as she ran back to the Democrats’ dugout.

“The Congressional Baseball Game is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s a great cause and brings both sides of the aisle together for a night off from partisan politics,” the statement read. “That is why it really struck a nerve when I heard an offensive and misogynistic comment from the Republican side on my way back to the dugout.”

Corey Inganamort, who is the Mascot Coordinator for the Washington Nationals, according to his LinkedIn account, said that he was there and that Sanchez is lying.

“I was in the dugout with the Republicans last night. She is lying,” Inganamort wrote on Twitter. “Nothing offensive or misogynistic was said by anybody. In fact, everybody was shocked by what @RepLindaSanchez did.”

Republicans dominated the 87th annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, winning 10-0.

Sanchez’s vulgar gesture comes five years after a left-wing terrorist tried to assassinate Republican lawmakers at one of the practices leading up the game. The terrorist shot five people, including Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), but fortunately, the only person who was killed was the terrorist.

“5 years ago my colleagues & I were attacked playing baseball—because we’re Republicans,” Scalise wrote on Twitter. “We didn’t let it stop us then & nothing will stop us now. It’s been a long journey, but tonight we play the Congressional Baseball Game—5 years stronger.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said during a 2018 interview that the media largely ignored a key detail from attack, that the terrorist was yelling “this is for healthcare!” while he was shooting. “He also had a list of conservative legislators, Republicans, in his pocket that he was willing to kill,” Paul added.

Fox News reported that several leftist climate protesters were arrested at the game for blocking one of the entrances.

“A message from U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger ahead of tomorrow’s Congressional Baseball Game for Charity,” U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger told Fox News. “We are aware that demonstrators are planning to protest political issues at the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity. Our mission is to protect the Members of Congress during this family event, so we have a robust security plan in place.”

“We urge anyone who is thinking about causing trouble at the charity game to stay home,” Manger continued. “We will not tolerate violence or any unlawful behavior during this family event.”
