Singer and LGBT activist Demi Lovato, who encouraged followers to “be a slut” and make their own porn in September, has now weighed in on supposed extraterrestrial beings, arguing that the term “alien” is “a derogatory term for anything.”
In an interview with PedestrianTV, Lovato discussed her docuseries “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” in which she “searches for the truth about the UFO phenomena.” Lovato answered the question, “How did this come to be?” by saying, “Well, I have been a believer my whole life too. And I just thought, you know, I’m in a position in my career right now where I’m dipping my toes into a lot of different waters. And this was just kind of a natural next step. I wanted to film everything that goes down when I go and search for these UFOs so that my fans can come along for the ride.”
“I have a belief that you can make contact, just as easy as I did if you were to meditate and expand your consciousness and work towards enlightenment,” Lovato said. “I believe that is the quickest way to be able to see something or meet something.”
“I think that if there were beings that could harm us, we would have been gone a long time ago,” Lovato opined. “I also think that if there are civilizations that are of consciousness in other dimensions, which has given them the technology to be able to travel through space, I think that they are looking for nothing but peaceful encounters and interactions because, like I said, if they wanted us gone, we would have been gone a long time ago! … Why would they want our planet when we’re running it into the ground?”
Asked for common misconceptions about UFOs, Lovato posited, “I think the ones that bother me are that they’re harmful or that they’ll come and take over the planet.”
“I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now,” she said. “But I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That’s why I like to call them ETs!”
Lovato has made headlines in the past over “derogatory” terms. In September, she posted on her Instagram stories, “Be a slut. Show your body. Get naked. Have all the safe, different, consensual sex you want. Be Kinky. Masturbate. Make/watch porn. Make money. … Just a reminder that being sexual is okay.”
She has also made clear her ideological leanings. In September 2020, Lovato lamented in Vogue about her white privilege, stating, “So here I am, sitting in a home that I was able to afford with the money that I have from singing, while people of color are fearing for their lives every day. I realized this was a lightning bolt jolting through my body, where I was reminded of my privilege. … All I knew was that I hated that I shared the same skin color as the people accused of committing heinous crimes against Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and many, many other Black lives.”
