WASHINGTON, DC - OCTOBER 13: U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) listens while Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the second day of her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill on October 13, 2020 in Washington, DC. Barrett was nominated by President Donald Trump to fill the vacancy left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who passed away in September. WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 15: FBI Director Christopher Wray testifies during a Senate Judiciary hearing about the Inspector General's report on the FBI's handling of the Larry Nassar investigation on Capitol Hill on September 15, 2021 in Washington, DC. Nassar was charged in 2016 with federal child pornography offenses and sexual abuse charges in Michigan. He is now serving decades in prison after hundreds of girls and women said he sexually abused them under the guise of medical treatment when he worked for Michigan State and Indiana-based USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians.

Tuesday evening, FBI Director Christopher Wray confirmed that his department believes that COVID likely escaped from a lab in Wuhan. Upon reading that statement, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) called for the U.S. government to “declassify the intelligence” related to the origins of the pandemic.

Hawley isn’t alone in calling for more sunlight on the issue — at least one former key Trump administration official from the Department of Energy is calling for transparency as well. Both men are correct in demanding that the public have access to that information after years of unanswered questions and secrecy on the topic.

The Daily Wire reported that Wray told Fox News’ Bret Baier that “the FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan.”

Wray justified that conclusion by pointing out that his bureau has “agents, professionals, analysts, virologists, microbiologists, etc., who focus specifically on the dangers of biological threats,” including but not limited to “novel viruses, like COVID,” and the dangers such diseases could pose.

In reaction, Hawley tweeted, “Of course it was. Now declassify the intelligence and let the American people see the truth.”

As implied by Hawley, Wray’s comments aren’t that surprising. After all, the Wuhan lab theory has been suspected by many since the spring of 2020.

Yet the American people have been told nothing but lies, distortions, and government-approved narratives since the start of COVID. The journalists and pundits who dissented from that accepted version of truth were branded crazy conspiracists.

In turn, trust in both government and media reached all-time lows in recent years. It seems that only a full release of the information, as called for by Hawley, would allow the American people to assess the situation for themselves and have confidence in the truth.

Former Department of Energy Undersecretary for Science Paul Dabbar is also requesting that his former department declassify a recent report that allegedly indicates that the Wuhan lab is ground zero for COVID, as reported in The Wall Street Journal.

In reaction to that story, Dabbar posted online, “While I understand the typical classified nature of much of what they do is important, the administration should consider de-classifying this report, because transparency of this topic is more important than is typical.”

During his time in the Trump administration, Dabbar served in the Senate-confirmed role as DOE’s “principal advisor on fundamental energy research, energy technologies, and science,” which included biological research, as well as “direct management over a majority of the Department’s national labs and their world-leading user facilities.”

“The National Labs have a strong history of global leadership in defense and non-defense research including in biology,” he added in his post.

Dabbar observed that DOE’s release of its information could widely help not just Americans, but the entire globe.

“The world would significantly benefit from their full analysis, and science-driven, non-political perspective,” he claimed.

Unfortunately for Hawley and Dabbar, the current administration seems unwilling to release anything that could potentially embarrass or expose the Chinese Communist Party. So, rather than have access to full and clear data on the topic, U.S. citizens must piecemeal the story together.

That raises another question: What is the Biden administration really so afraid of regarding Wuhan and COVID?
