On Friday, a new Twitter trend launched when an account suggested that others use the phrase “Dear diary” to respond to tweets from CNN’s Jim Acosta.
The trend came after Acosta repeatedly yelled at President Donald Trump from the back of the room during an event at the White House. Video of the incident showed other people turning around and telling Acosta to be quiet as he was disrupting the event.
“I tried to ask the president if he would stop calling us the enemy of the people,” Acosta tweeted, following his attention-seeking stunt. “He did not respond.”
That’s when the idea of using the phrase “Dear diary” to mock Acosta struck one Twitter user:
