Polls continue to show that NYC residents are feeling increasingly unsafe under the leadership of far-left mayor Bill de Blasio, whose combative relationship with law enforcement has severely damaged morale among the NYPD. A Quinnipiac University Poll released in August of this year revealed that just 33 percent of city voters think quality of life in the city is “good” or “very good.” According to Politico New York, the outcome of the poll was the lowest percentage Quinnipiac ever measured on the quality of life question for the city.
Just last Friday, NYC residents sadly received some validation for their feelings concerning the city when Elena Sobina, 39, was forced to live out any mother’s worst fear while breastfeeding her baby girl in NYC’s Fort Tyron Park.
In the process of breastfeeding her baby daughter, Kelly, around 5:30 in the evening, Elena was mugged at knife point by 31-year-old Juan Garcia, an assailant with a history of crime. She and her baby were thrown to the ground by Garcia before he eventually snagged Elena’s phone and purse.

As reported by the New York Post, Sobina, originally from Ukraine and now working in the city as an actress, recounted her chilling experience.
“I had my phone in my right hand and then I felt somebody standing behind me very close,” recalls Sobina, “I turned my head and the guy grabbed my shoulder near my neck.”
The grotesque excuse of a man then threw Sobina and her 6-month-old daughter recklessly to the ground.
“The baby woke up and started to scream. She was on the ground and I was kind of above her,” Sobina said speaking of her daughter. Fortunately, baby Kelly only suffered a cut lip.
The mugger then started to approach her with a knife in-hand as Sobina lay on the ground with her baby, screaming, “Help me! Help me!”
“I thought he wanted to kill me and the baby.” said Sobina; so she naturally pleaded with her attacker to take her money and purse instead.
Garcia took her phone and purse and took off. That phone would later lead to his capture, as police were able to track the iPhone to Garcia’s location.
Juan Garcia was charged with robbery, criminal possession of stolen property, and acting in a manner injurious to a child. These infractions were added to his prior charges of burglary, drugs and possession of stolen property.
Sobina said that her husband suggested that they move out of the city or get a dog in light of this attack.
If Sobina plans to stay in the city, I humbly suggest she get a gun.
