Additional arrest warrants have been issued for “Dances With Wolves” actor Nathan Chasing Horse, who is already in jail awaiting trial for charges related to him allegedly running a sex cult.

The warrants, which have been issued by Canadian authorities, include nine additional charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation, four counts of sexual assault, one count of sexual interference with a person under the age of 16, and one count of removal of a child from Canada under the age of 16, the Daily Beast reported. In a news release, the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service said that the investigation spanned several years, with one offense allegedly occurring in 2005, the CBC reported.

The actor has been in a Las Vegas, Nevada, jail on 18 felony charges, including sexual assault of a minor, child abuse, and kidnapping since January.

Chasing Horse was arrested in late January following a SWAT raid on his home in North Las Vegas, the New York Post reported. Chasing Horse reportedly lived at the home with five wives, with one allegedly given to him as a “gift” when she was just 15 and another becoming his wife after she turned 16.

In a 50-page search warrant obtained by the Associated Press, authorities alleged that Chasing Horse is the leader of a cult called The Circle, where he used his position to allegedly abuse underage Native American girls. Authorities investigated Chasing Horse for months after receiving a tip in October 2022, though it is alleged that his crimes have been ongoing for about two decades.

Chasing Horse was known for his role as Smiles a Lot, a young Sioux tribe member, in the film “Dances With Wolves.” Following his appearance in the film, Chasing Horse was known as a medicine man among tribes in the U.S. and Canada and would perform healing ceremonies and spiritual gatherings, the AP reported. It was in this position that Chasing Horse allegedly abused at least six victims, including at least one as young as 13.

“Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions,” the search warrant said, according to the AP.

The search warrant added that Chasing Horse’s followers apparently believed he could actually communicate with higher beings, and called him “Medicine Man” or “Holy Person.”

Chasing Horse was arrested for crimes allegedly committed in Clark County, Nevada, but the search warrant reportedly includes information pertaining to crimes committed in other states, including Montana and South Dakota and other parts of Nevada. Chasing Horse is accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault of a child younger than 16, as well as child abuse. In addition, he is alleged to have recorded sexual assaults and arranged for other men to have sex with the victims for a fee.

The warrant also alleged that Chasing Horse was kicked off the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, in 2015 after being accused of human trafficking.

Chasing Horse’s attorneys argue that his accusers wanted to have sex with him, according to the CBC.
