The Daily Wire celebrated the one-year anniversary of Matt Walsh’s groundbreaking documentary “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/what-is-a-woman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is a Woman?</a>” Thursday night by streaming the film for free on Twitter.
The Daily Wire&#8217;s  co-CEO Jeremy Boreing announced on Friday that the company will keep “<a href="https://twitter.com/realDailyWire/status/1664424891372941312?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What Is A Woman?</a>” free on the social media platform for the rest of the weekend. The Daily Wire tweet that features the film has been viewed over 130 million times.
The stream began on The Daily Wire’s <a href="https://twitter.com/realDailyWire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter page</a> at 8:00 p.m. ET. The “What is a Woman?” stream caused controversy between the conservative media company and the social media platform Thursday morning after Boreing revealed that Twitter canceled a deal with The Daily Wire to stream the film due to “misgendering.”

“What is a Woman?” became the most-watched movie at home shortly after its release on June 1, 2022, as people from all over the world tuned in to see Walsh ask his simple yet monumental question. 
In the film, Walsh journeys across America and the world, questioning the logic behind the radical gender ideology movement that has negatively affected women and children. The documentary arguably sparked a movement to protect children from the harmful effects of sex change procedures. Following the film’s release and Walsh’s subsequent rallies and events speaking out about the tragic consequences of so-called “gender-affirming” care, at least a dozen states have banned transgender surgeries on minors.
“I sought out experts in every field in the gender theory world — doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, politicians, activists, and transgender people themselves — and I put the question to them directly,” Walsh <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/teaser-clip-drops-for-matt-walshs-new-documentary-what-is-a-woman">said</a> before the documentary’s release. “I found — and you’ll see in the film — their arguments collapsed not with hammer blows or a hard push, but with simple questions, because the core of gender ideology is hollow.”
Elon Musk, who took over Twitter last October, responded to his company&#8217;s apparent censorship of the documentary, saying that the decision to cancel the “What is a Woman?” stream was “a mistake made by many people at Twitter” and that “misgendering” is not banned on the platform.

“It is definitely allowed,” he said. “Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws.”
The Daily Wire premiered the film on Twitter on Thursday night, Twitter initially labeled it as &#8220;hateful conduct&#8221; and prevented users from sharing it. 
As the film was being throttled, Boreing tweeted a picture with several Daily Wire personalities. &#8220;A terrible day, but nice to be in the fox hole with the best team in the business,&#8221; he wrote.
Around the same time, Musk clarified that while users would soon be able to share the documentary, it &#8220;won’t be recommended to non-followers (nor will any advertising be associated with it).&#8221; Musk stated that the film was &#8220;sensitive content.&#8221;
Boreing continued to press Musk on that point. &#8220;Have you reviewed the film, and can you tell me what makes it “sensitive content?&#8221; he asked. Musk did not reply.
Overnight, the changes that Musk promised went into effect. &#8220;Works now,&#8221; Musk told Walsh. &#8220;Only limit is that it will not be placed next to advertising.&#8221;
By early morning, the leadership of The Daily Wire was celebrating the reversal as a major win not simply for their company, but for the freedom of speech.
