<p>Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed a hospital in Texas this week after an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/project-veritas-releases-disturbing-undercover-footage-from-gender-clinics-advising-10-year-old" target="_blank" rel="noopener">undercover video</a> allegedly showed a licensed social worker at the facility saying they had patients as young as eight years old receiving transgender treatments.</p>
<p>Cruz responded during a Wednesday interview with Newsmax to the footage that Project Veritas released last week of medical professionals at Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center.</p>
<p>“Heidi and I used to live in Austin, we&#8217;ve taken our girls to Dell,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;And last week, Veritas went undercover and got them on film explaining their policy is they will give puberty blockers and suppressors to children as young as eight years old. And I just think that&#8217;s horrific.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I think a child that is eight years old, does not have the maturity to make permanent life-altering decisions,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We see institutions across the country performing genital mutilation, performing surgeries where they remove perfectly healthy genitals from children, little boys or little girls, making them no longer able to have children for the rest of their lives. That is horrific. I think that&#8217;s child abuse.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cruz said he has partnered with Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) to look into what is going on at Dell Children’s Medical Center.</p>
<p>The two sent a <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/640947813/DAILY-CALLER-OBTAINED-2023-04-25-Cruz-Roy-Letter-to-Dell-Children-s-Medical-Center#">letter</a> to the hospital this week demanding the following information:</p>
<ul>
<li>Please provide processes used by DCMC for diagnosing gender dysphoria.</li>
<li>Please provide all internal and external correspondence regarding the process DCMC used to determine why they began offering gender dysphoria treatment.</li>
<li>How many federal dollars did DCMC receive in the last fiscal year?</li>
<li>How many federal dollars were used in any activity related to gender dysphoria?</li>
<li>How many minors has DCMC treated for “gender dysphoria”?</li>
<li>What is the age of the youngest patient that DCMC has treated for “gender dysphoria.”</li>
<li>How many detransitioners has DCMC treated?</li>
<li>Does DCMC allow children under the age of eighteen to consent to experimental medical procedures? If so, what age may a child consent?</li>
<li>Does a child require parental consent in order to receive gender dysphoria treatment?</li>
<li>Is DCMC aware of the Texas Attorney General’s formal opinion declaring certain procedures to be child abuse? If so, how has DCMC responded to the opinion?</li>
<li>Has DCMC financially benefited from providing gender dysphoria treatments to minors?</li>
<li>What does DCMC estimate the long-term financial benefit of providing gender dysphoria treatment to be?</li>
<li>What process does DCMC have for staff to opt out of providing gender dysphoria treatment foreither conscience or other reasons?</li>
