<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ted-cruz">Sen. Ted Cruz</a> (R-TX) slammed U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland for appointing Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation — after Weiss agreed to a highly controversial plea deal that was later rejected by a federal judge.</p>
<p>Cruz made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; where he condemned the appointment as “disgraceful” and “a cover-up.”</p>
<p>&#8220;The result of all of that is that David Weiss either was an active participant in covering up this criminality and protecting Joe Biden in engaging in obstruction of justice. That is Option One,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;Or Option Two: he wasn’t the driver, he was just complicit. He was so weak that he could not stop the partisans and main justice from turning it into a political effort to protect Joe Biden.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Either case, he is a wildly inappropriate person to be a special counsel,&#8221; Cruz continued. &#8220;We should have a special counsel. We should have a special counsel to investigate Merrick Garland for whether he lied under oath the Congress into questioning from me and whether he committed obstruction of justice.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cruz also said that a special counsel was also needed to &#8220;investigate Joe Biden and $20 million that his family received while he was vice president&#8221; because that has not happened yet.</p>
