<p>Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that President Joe Biden was &#8220;the real crook&#8221; after he announced on Sunday evening that he was pardoning his son, convicted felon Hunter Biden.</p>
<p>Cruz, who predicted nearly a year ago that Biden would pardon his son, made the remarks during the most recent episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while talking about the news shortly after it broke.</p>
<p>&#8220;Never mind about the corruption, never mind about the gun offenses, never mind about the drug offenses, never mind about the tax offenses,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;No man is above the law unless your name is Joe Biden and the entire Biden family.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cruz mocked the idea that Hunter Biden was &#8220;some lonely crackhead who just sort of went astray.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s what Joe Biden and the entire White House has tried to paint him as,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Hunter Biden&#8217;s business was selling access to daddy. The real crook here is Joe Biden.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The Biden family, they made tens of millions of dollars selling favors from Joe Biden,&#8221; Cruz noted. &#8220;Listen, nobody pays Hunter Biden. Nobody pays a crack head money when he has no marketable services. He was not selling anything other than daddy.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;When Joe Biden entered this pardon, it is about protecting his own rear end,&#8221; Cruz continued.</p>
<p>He said that the noise that he helped create about the &#8220;corrupt&#8221; sweetheart plea deal that Hunter Biden got from federal prosecutors helped to collapse the deal after it was exposed to the public.</p>

<p>&#8220;It was indefensible that the plea deal was zero jail time, a slap on the wrist, which Joe Biden said, ‘Well, gosh, that would be fair. Don&#8217;t punish my son’,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;And understand, this is not about Hunter. This is about Joe.”</p>
