Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed the Biden administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) this week for a program that paid millions of dollars to a far-left university group that links conservatives to Nazis.
Cruz made the remarks during an episode of his “Verdict” podcast this week while discussing DHS’s Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program.
Cruz said that the average person might believe that the program, which gives funds to “establish or enhance capabilities to prevent targeted violence and terrorism,” is targeting terrorist organizations like ISIS and Antifa.
“Well, you would be wrong,” Cruz said, explaining that one of the organizations, the University of Dayton, received a $352,109 grant to “draw on the expertise of the University of Dayton faculty” to fight “domestic violence extremism and hate movements.”
Fox News reported that the university’s grant application included a footnote where one of the researchers presented a chart called the “Pyramid of Far-Right Radicalization.”
The pyramid has more mainstream conservative organizations – such as the Heritage Foundation, Fox News, and PragerUniversity – on the bottom two levels and places neo-Nazi organizations at the top, seemingly linking all these groups together.
“What does the pyramid link them to? Hate groups like ‘The Base,’ which is a neo-Nazi paramilitary group, and the Daily Stormer, which is a pro Nazi publication,” Cruz said, adding, “And the Biden DHS said, ‘Oh, that sounds great to us,’ and was happy to spend your and my tax dollars supporting a group that apparently sees no difference between the RNC, between the Heritage Foundation, between Fox News and Nazis.”

Cruz said that this was an example of the Biden administration weaponizing the federal government “to target you.”
