Country Music Star Eric Church Blames NRA For Las Vegas Shooting

   DailyWire.com

Country music star Eric Church blamed the NRA for the mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival last year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Church went on a politically-charged rant. “[W]e could have stopped the guy in Vegas,” Church said. “I blame the lobbyists. And the biggest in the gun world is the NRA.”

The horrific shooting in Vegas was the largest mass shooting in modern American history, resulting in 59 people losing their lives. Church’s fellow country music star, Jason Aldean, was performing at the time of the shooting.

Church went on to underscore that he is a “Second Amendment Guy” but has never been a member of the NRA.

“I don’t care who you are — you shouldn’t have that kind of power over elected officials,” he said of the NRA.

Despite the Las Vegas shooter legally obtaining his firearms from gun stores after passing background checks, Church blames the NRA for the so-called “gun-show loophole”: “To me it’s cut-and-dried: The gun-show [loophole] would not exist if it weren’t for the NRA.”

Church goes on to disparage NRA members: “If I was an NRA member, I would think I had more of a problem than the solution,” he said. “I would question myself real hard about what I wanted to be in the next three, four, five years.”

“I don’t care,” he added, in regard to possible blowback he would get from fans. “Right’s right and wrong’s wrong. I don’t understand why we have to fear a group [like the NRA],” he said. “It’s asinine.”

UPDATE: Spokesperson for the NRA, Dana Loesch, told the Daily Wire in a statement: “I’m sad to see Eric blame his fans for the acts of evil madmen. NRA members are the heartbeat of country music and they have a long memory, just ask the Dixie Chicks.”
