We’re trying something new at The Daily Wire.
In 100 theaters across the country on November 11, we want Daily Wire members to watch Confession together on the big screen.
What is Confession?
Our latest movie may be our biggest yet. Set in Joseph Stalin’s Moscow, a disillusioned professor is arrested and brought to the infamous Lubyanka Prison. There he faces interrogation by his brilliant and brutal former student.
It was written for the screen by Ben Shapiro, who says he put it together for a reason.
“I wrote Confession because I think we, as a whole, in the West have largely forgotten what matters,” Shapiro says. “We’ve forgotten the lessons of history: what communism actually did to people, and how seductive the materialist worldview still is. And we’ve forgotten what courage is for: standing up for what’s right when it costs you everything and no one is watching.”
Rob Lowe and James Franco lead an ensemble with five Academy Award nominees, and the film is directed by Václav Marhoul, a director who’s been nominated for the Silver Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.

Why this one belongs on the big screen
This week, most of the country is focused on the election, and it should be. But an election only settles who holds power for the next few years. What a country believes about history, virtue, and courage is shaped by the stories we tell and the ones we choose to show up for.
Films that take those things seriously don’t get made very often. Matt Damon recently laid out how every movie is now made to keep a streamer engaged: a big action scene in the first five minutes. the plot repeated three or four times in the dialogue, all with knowledge that viewers are watching while on their phones.
It works if all you want is to keep someone from changing the channel. But the questions at the heart of Confession — where our values come from, what we’re willing to sacrifice for them, what makes life meaningful — don’t land if you’re half-watching. We want you to put the phone down.
That’s why we wanted Confession in theaters. A theater is where a film becomes an event. You sit in the dark with a few hundred people, nobody checks their phone, and when the lights come up you talk about what you just saw. On November 11th, that room will be full of Daily Wire members: people who care about the same questions the film asks.
If you can’t find a theater near you, Confession will be streaming on The Daily Wire the same night. Whether you see it in a theater or at home, we urge you to give it your full attention.
If you’re already a Daily Wire member, thank you. Your membership has made this film possible. If you’re not, this is a good week to join. It’s how you’ll get a seat in a theater on November 11, and you’ll get access to The Daily Wire’s full library of content. We have an exciting lineup for next year of movies and projects that not only entertain, but also have meaning behind them.
Seats won’t last. Find your theater, get your tickets, and we’ll see you on November 11th.
