College Students Claim Objective ‘Truth’ Is A Racist ‘Myth’

   DailyWire.com

It’s finally happened: the Social Justice Left has openly called objective “truth” a racist “myth” steeped in “white supremacy.”

What else could it be?

After outgoing Pomona College President David Oxtoby sent a school-wide email rebuking the actions of violent protesters attempting to shut down conservative journalist Heather Mac Donald’s speech, three self-identified “Black students” triggered by the pro-First Amendment stance penned a letter to Oxtoby, condemning his words, and, yes, openly labeling “truth” a racist “myth.”

“We, few of the Black students here at Pomona College and the Claremont Colleges, would like to address several of the points made in your ‘Academic Freedom and Free Speech’ email sent out to the entire student body on April 7, 2017 in response to a student protest against Heather Mac Donald’s talk at Claremont McKenna College’s (CMC) Athenaeum,” opens the letter.

As the letter continues, the students explain that free speech has been “appropriated by hegemonic institutions” and should ultimately be curtailed because “it has given those who seek to perpetuate systems of domination a platform to project their bigotry.”

It remains unclear as to who would be deciding which speech is kosher and which is not, but, presumably, their non-binary snowflake feelings would dictate such.

What could possibly go wrong?

“Thus, if ‘our mission is founded upon the discovery of truth,’ how does free speech uphold that value?” the Pomona students ask.

Then comes the galling truth-is-a-racist-myth rant (emphasis added):

Historically, white supremacy has venerated the idea of objectivity, and wielded a dichotomy of ‘subjectivity vs. objectivity’ as a means of silencing oppressed peoples. The idea that there is a single truth–’the Truth’–is a construct of the Euro-West that is deeply rooted in the Enlightenment, which was a movement that also described Black and Brown people as both subhuman and impervious to pain. This construction is a myth and white supremacy, imperialism, colonization, capitalism, and the United States of America are all of its progeny. The idea that the truth is an entity for which we must search, in matters that endanger our abilities to exist in open spaces, is an attempt to silence oppressed peoples.

Additionally, Mac Donald, the pro-police journalist and Black Lives Matter critic at the center of the free speech conflict, was labeled “a fascist, a white supremacist, a warhawk, a transphobe, a queerphobe, a classist, and ignorant of interlocking systems of domination that produce the lethal conditions under which oppressed peoples are forced to live” — without evidence, of course.

Rational folks.

Mac Donald’s speech was met with massive resistance by far-leftists, as noted by the Claremont Independent:

Even faculty members who sought to enter the building were denied, with waves of protesters screaming and resorting to physical force to repel anyone who drew too close to the building. At one point, a crowd of White students screaming “F*** White supremacy, f*** White supremacy” pushed an elderly White professor away from the Athenaeum entrance.

Leaders at the event segregated their protesters by race: white folks at the front and black folks behind them. #Progress.

“[P]rotest has a legitimate and celebrated place on college campuses,” wrote Oxtoby via email, responding to the anti-free speech incident. “Our mission is founded upon the discovery of truth, the collaborative development of knowledge and the betterment of society,” he added.

The letter also demands that Oxtoby apologize for the email, since defending free speech is now a Social Justice no-no.
