WATCH: CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin Declares ‘Roe v. Wade’ Dead

CNN’s chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin declared Roe v. Wade dead on Wednesday after Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, a Republican, signed the nation’s most restrictive abortion bill into law.

Roe v. Wade is gone and every woman in Alabama who gets pregnant is gonna be forced to give birth soon,” Toobin told “360” host Anderson Cooper. “And that’s gonna be true in Alabama, it’s gonna be true in Missouri, it’s gonna be true, probably, in Georgia. And that’s what the law is because that’s what the presidential election was about, in part, last time.”

Toobin went on to say that the new pro-life legislation, called the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, will likely be upheld in court.

“This is what this fight has been about, for years. I think the legislators were very smart, they waited until they got five votes on the Supreme Court and now they’re gonna push this thing through. And Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch are gonna be joined by Chief Justice Roberts and Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, and this is a victory that Rick (Santorum) and others have been fighting for decades and they’ve won and they should celebrate.”

The Alabama Human Life Protection Act outlaws abortion in all cases, save an exemption for the life of the mother. Third-party abortionists could face life in prison for murdering an unborn child.

“Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, a bill that was approved by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of the Legislature,” said Governor Ivey in a statement. “To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God.”

Though there has been significant misinformation spread about newly enacted pro-life legislation in places like Alabama and Georgia, the laws do not target mothers. As highlighted by The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles on Wednesday, Alabama’s Human Life Protection Act, states: “No woman upon whom an abortion is performed or attempted to be performed shall be criminally or civilly liable. Furthermore, no physician confirming the serious health risk to the child’s mother shall be criminally or civilly liable for those actions.”

Similarly, the so-called “heartbeat bill” in Georgia “did not repeal a number of Georgia criminal statutes that explicitly apply to abortions and unborn children, and it does not overrule controlling legal authority holding that these statutes bar prosecution of a woman for terminating her own pregnancy,” explained conservative columnist David French at National Review.

Toobin reportedly has a personal history of his own with abortion. According to sources at The New York Daily News, the CNN legal analyst offered a colleague’s daughter, whom he impregnated while married to another woman, money to abort their child. “In 2008, when (Casey) Greenfield became pregnant, and when she told Toobin the news, he offered her ‘money if she’d have an abortion,’ says a source. He also allegedly offered to pay for her to have another child later via a sperm donor,” the report said.
