CNN anchor Dana Bash was hit with swift backlash from the Left after she applauded President Donald Trump for his efforts combating the China-originated coronavirus, or COVID-19, on Tuesday via CNN airwaves.

Bash noted of Trump’s impressive “tone” and called him the “kind of leader that people need” in this time of crisis.

“I am going to lose my mind,” posted Erick Fernandez, formerly of HuffPost. “Just this morning he was attacking state governors on Twitter. What on earth is wrong with you, [Dana Bash]? I feel like I’m in the twilight zone and he’s getting celebrated for not doing his usual mudslinging. But he’s still doing it on Twitter!”

“Here is the clip of [Dana Bash] praising Trump because he’s now screaming at reporters and going on absolute tantrums like he normally does. I feel like I’m living on another planet,” Fernandez added.

Bash responded to Fernandez by emphasizing the need for the country to react to COVID-19 without politics, again offering praise for Trump’s tone at recent press conferences concerning the virus.

“As I said in the clip you posted below, this is a moment to be non-partisan, American and human,” the CNN anchor said.

And “the TONE the president set at today & yesterday’s PRESSERS were remarkably different and welcomed,” she continued. “That’s a fact.”

“Let’s all take a breath and remember we are all in this together,” Bash added.

“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the President of the United Sates,” Bash stated Tuesday. “This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud, from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint.”

“[Trump] is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crises and uncertainty,” she added.

As documented by The Daily Wire, CNN has been notably negative with their coverage of the president. The network once attempted to create a scandalous story over Trump’s choice of two scoops of ice cream for dessert, for example, and constantly fumbled with their so-called Russian collusion coverage.

Thus, Bash’s mild praise of the president was enough to trigger harsh reactions from the likes of Fernandez.

As of Wednesday morning, there are 6,539 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States, with a death toll of 116. Globally, there are over 200,000 confirmed cases and 8,240 deaths.

On Friday, Trump officially declared the outbreak a national emergency, unlocking $50 billion to address the health scare. With communities and states across the nation taking social distancing measures, which has sparked a major disruption to business, the president pushed a $850 billion stimulus package, mostly in the form of tax relief measures.

“Roughly $500 billion of this would be tied to a payroll tax cut, while $250 billion would come in the form of Small Business Administration loans and another $58 billion would be directed to the airline industry, among other measures,” Fox News reported.
