Wednesday on Fox News, Megyn Kelly reported on a “disturbing” new revelation regarding the Muslim activist father of Ahmed Mohamed, the boy escorted in handcuffs out of school after bringing a suspicious looking device that turned out to be simply a gutted clock dropped into a case.
A few weeks ago, Ahmed “the clock kid” was launched to instant stardom among the left for supposedly having proven yet again that America is filled with racist Islamophobes by getting arrested for what authorities believed was a deliberate bomb hoax. One of Ahmed’s biggest fans turned out to be—suprise!—President Obama, who tweeted to Ahmed that he could bring his “cool clock” (that everyone agrees looks like a bomb) to the White House whenever he wanted.
Since his rise to fame, however, more details have emerged about the “traumatic” incident and, particularly, Ahmed’s family, including his sister, who was once suspended for three days for allegedly calling in a bomb threat, and his father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, who turns out to be an outspoken activist who has repeatedly run for president of Sudan and found creative ways to decry “Islamophobia.”
Wednesday, Kelly added to the intrigue surrounding Ahmed’s father. According to Kelly, Elhassan Mohamed appears to have two Facebook accounts, one English and one Arabic. One particular post on the Arabic page suggests that Mohamed might just be a 9/11 Truther.
While Mohamed’s English Facebook page seems pretty mild-mannered and “pro-America,” reporter Trace Gallagher told Kelly that the tone is “very different” on his more active Arabic page, and includes one particularly interesting post (which appears to have been pulled since the report).
“There’s also an Arabic Facebook page for the National Reform Party, a political party started by Elhassan Mohamed, bearing a similar profile picture and address,” said Gallagher. “Only, this webpage is much more active and the tone is very different, including a 14-minute conspiracy theory clip on the 9/11 terrorist attacks and a post that shows the smoking World Trade towers, describing as a U.S.-sponsored hoax to launch a world war against Islam and Muslims.”
Facing a potential lawsuit from Ahmed’s father, who has partnered with activist group CAIR, the Irving independent school district maintains that it has evidence that provides more context for officials’ actions that it can’t legally release without the permission of Mohamed’s parents.
Meanwhile, President Obama is following through with his invite. Ahmed is scheduled to head (presumably clock in hand) to the White House for Astronomy Night on Oct. 19.
