Among her father’s critics, Ivanka Trump just can’t win — even when she praises what many believe/hope/fear will be her father’s opponent in 2020. Count model Chrissy Teigen, wife of John Legend, among Ivanka’s permanent detractors — and one who’s not interested in “coming together” to combat sexual harassment.
Following Oprah Winfrey’s much ballyhooed remarks at the 2018 Golden Globes, the First Daughter praised the media mogul’s “empowering & inspiring speech” and signaled her support for the #MeToo-inspired “Time’s Up” campaign against sexual harassment.
“Just saw @Oprah’s empowering & inspiring speech at last night’s #GoldenGlobes. Let’s all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! #United,” tweeted Ivanka.
The first to respond to the tweet of support for Trump’s seemingly inevitable political opponent and the anti-sexual harassment movement was Teigen, who posted just three words: “ew go away.”
That tweet inspired a few responses, including this one: “Hey Chrissy. If Hillary had been elected Harvey and the rest of them would still be doing their thing.”
Another famous female responded to Ivanka’s original tweet. Actress Alyssa Milano took the opportunity to ask the first daughter for a Time’s Up donation — and take a stab at her father.
“Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father’s accusers,” wrote Milano.
Others offered their own thoughts on Oprah’s speech. “It’s hard to consider her speech inspiring when she was pumping young girls to sexual predator Weinstein,” wrote one follower. “She is a hypocrite elitist enabling sexual assault.”
Others followed the lead of Milano and turned the post into a chance to condemn her dad:
So much for “#United.”
