Liberal activist Chrissy Teigen apologized Wednesday for repeatedly sending nasty messages to a then-16-year-old Courtney Stodden.
In since-deleted messages reported by the Daily Beast, Teigen told Stodden it was her “fantasy” for the teen to take a “dirt nap.” The model also encouraged the minor to kill herself via private messages, Stodden said.
“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bullshit in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll,” Teigen started her apology Twitter-thread. “I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.”
“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!” the model continued.

Stodden told the Daily Beast that Teigen has never apologized for her behavior, even as the model continuously complains about online “trolls.”
Now that the deleted posts from Teigen have resurfaced in the news, the model is apparently ready to publicly apologize.
“I have tried to connect with Courtney privately but since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize. I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am,” she wrote. “And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”

When Stodden was 16 years old, her mother approved the teen’s marriage to a 50-year-old actor. Stodden has since called the man her predator and opened up about the troubling ordeal. During this time, Teigen apparently harassed Stodden and even sent her death threats via Twitter direct messages.
“[Teigen] wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” Stodden told the Daily Beast. “Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’”
Notably, Teigen has not denied sending Stodden direct messages encouraging the minor to kill herself.

After Teigen announced in March that she was leaving Twitter for good, ironically complaining of mean tweets sent to her, Stodden posted a screenshot of one of the model’s mean tweets to her. “What a shame #ChrissyTeigen is leaving Twitter,” she sarcastically captioned the post.
