Communist China used Democrat President Joe Biden’s words against him this week after Biden said that there was “no federal solution” to dealing with the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, despite promising on the campaign trail that he was going to “shut down the virus.”
Biden made the remarks after Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R), chairman of the National Governors Association, spoke about challenges his state is experiencing in responding to the pandemic.
“And so one word of concern or encouragement for your team is that as you look towards federal solutions that will help alleviate the challenge, make sure that we do not let federal solution stand in the way of state solutions,” Hutchinson said. “And the production of 500 million rapid tests that will be distributed by the federal government is great. But obviously that dries up the supply chain for the solutions that we might offer as governor.”
A few moments later, Biden responded, “Look, there is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level.”
China’s Global Times, which is state-run propaganda, hit Biden over the remarks, asking, “Did American politicians’ promises during the US presidential elections mean anything at all?”
The publication wrote:
“I’m going to shut down the virus, not the country,” US President Joe Biden said ambitiously during his presidential campaign in October 2020. However, judging from Biden’s current attitude toward the COVID-19 fight, similar promises made by US politicians are nothing but hollow slogans used to attack other candidates and collect votes. …
During the 2020 presidential elections, many American people had high expectations of Biden because they were convinced that he could curb the raging epidemic. In fact, this was also one of his key platforms. Unfortunately, since US elections have become displays of bipartisan disputes and empty slogans, it is always the American people who ultimately suffer. … If the leader of the only superpower in the world today is unable to formulate a unified policy to deal with the public health crisis, and only brag about goals to win more votes, then the US’ system and leadership are dubious.
Biden’s disastrous remarks give the communist nation an opportunity to undermine U.S. influence around the world by providing solid material for them to turn into anti-American propaganda.
Biden’s remarks come as coronavirus cases have skyrocketed across the country in recent days as he fails to “shut down the virus,” which he pledged to do on the campaign trail. More Americans have now died from coronavirus under Biden’s leadership than did under former President Donald Trump.
Polling released on Sunday by Civiqs found that only 36% of Americans approve of the job that Biden is doing in office. Numerous other polls have his approval ratings in the high-30s or low-40s.
