Kanye West’s embrace of President Trump and black conservative commentator Candace Owens has broken everyone: his fans, black political thought leaders, and now the celebrity class. From the many celebrity rants on Twitter, you’d think Kanye West just endorsed the anti-Christ (which, in fairness, is how many entertainers see President Trump).
Celebrities from the always pleasant and classy Rosie O’Donnell to Jordan Peele to John Legend are all sounding off on Twitter to hit Kanye with a litany of slurs. O’Donnell called him a “f***ing moron” while Jordan Peele announced Kanye may be his new inspiration for the “Get Out” sequel.
John Legend, a longtime friend and collaborator of West’s, claimed Kanye has embraced a man who supports white supremacy.
“I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can’t be blind to the truth,” Legend wrote in a series of tweets. “The defining trait of Trump’s campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone’s thoughts though.”
Rapper Snoop Dogg suggested that Kanye’s adoption of the MAGA hat means he is now acting white while also suggesting he resides in “the sunken place,” another reference to the movie “Get Out,” where brainwashed black men and women are held captive in a prison code-named “the sunken place” by white, liberal elites.
Samuel L. Jackson also referenced “the sunken place”:
