UPDATE: CBS has issued a statement saying Geftman-Gold’s comments were “deeply inappropriate” and that she has been terminated from her position with the network.

A top legal executive at CBS, Hayley Geftman-Gold, is in hot water after she reacted to horrifying events in Las Vegas by posting on Facebook that she was “not even sympathetic” to shooting victims because “country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold wrote on the social media platform, ostensibly referring to Congressional action in the wake of Sandy Hook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
The Daily Caller managed to grab a screenshot of Geftman-Gold’s Facebook status before it was removed on Monday. The post shows Geftman-Gold, apparently responding to a story posted about the event, commenting about politics and arguing with a friend, who agrees that “Repugs” might not respond to tragedy by jumping on the gun control bandwagon.

A separate screenshot from Daily Caller shows Geftman-Gold’s profile, where she lists her employer as CBS, and her job as the “VP, Senior Counsel, Strategic Transactions.” She previously worked for MTV and a couple of white collar New York law firms.

The original thread has been deleted by Geftman-Gold’s acquaintance, not the lawyer herself, according to the Daily Caller.
It’s not clear when Geftman-Gold posted her reply, but as of 12:00 p.m. EST, nearly 60 people are dead and more than 500 are injured, following a mass shooting at a Las Vegas country music festival. Las Vegas resident Stephen Paddock opened fire on the 22,000-person crowd from across the street, shooting at festival-goers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino with what authorities say was a fully automatic machine gun.
This is not the first time someone affiliated with CBS has attacked Republicans in the wake of a tragedy. CBS anchor Scott Pelley suggested, after a gunman fired on several members of Congress practicing for a softball game (and seriously wounding Rep. Steve Scalise), that the wounds Republicans suffered were “self-inflicted.”
The Daily Wire reached out to CBS for comment but has not received a response.
