America’s most famous pimp, Dennis Hof, owner of the notorious “Bunny Ranch” brothel in Nevada, has died just days after his 72nd birthday.
According to CNBC, the pimp, whose brothel was the subject of the HBO show “Cathouse,” died just hours after a “combination 72nd birthday party/campaign rally attended by GOP tax fighter Grover Norquist; Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was recently pardoned by President Donald Trump, and porn movie legend Ron Jeremy.”
Hof reportedly died in his sleep at the Love Ranch Vegas (another one of his Nevada brothels) and was found by Ron Jeremy. He turned 72 on Sunday.
Inspired by the rise of Trump, Hof recently set aside his brothel exploits in pursuit of a life in politics. This past summer, he ousted an incumbent state assemblyman in the Republican primary for the District 36 seat.
“I’m riding the Trump wave,” Hof said in June after winning his primary. “He’s Christopher Columbus.”
Hof’s campaign for office took a hit in September when the Las Vegas Review Journal reported the “Art of the Pimp” author was being investigated for sexual assault.
“Three former prostitutes previously had accused Hof of sexual assault,” reports CNBC. “But prosecutors did not file charges against Hof because the statute of limitations had expired in each case.”
Hof emphatically denied the allegations. “It’s this sort of muckraking in the political cesspool that keeps so many good people from running for office,” he told the newspaper.
Hof only dated prostitutes, having once openly stated he found monogamy difficult due to his serial infidelity. According to the bio on his site, Hof had two children with his high school sweetheart, Shirley:
While still in high school in 1964, his girlfriend, Shirley, got pregnant. “I did the right thing and married her,” Dennis writes.
Although some suggested terminating the pregnancy, the couple rejected the idea. “I couldn’t imagine taking the life of our unborn child,” Dennis explained.
He and Shirley had a second daughter four years later.
