Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me,” sold 1.1 million copies in the United States alone during its first week of release. The total includes pre-orders, print sales, e-books, and audiobooks, per AP News.

“I poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support,” Spears said in a statement released Wednesday by publisher Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster.

“The Woman in Me” was released on October 24 and instantly skyrocketed to the top of the bestsellers list. It documents the pop star’s rise to international fame. It goes into detail about her public struggles, including her breakdown in 2008 when she said she “lost it, over and over again,” and her life under a conservatorship for 13 years.

Spears, 41, also made some previously unknown revelations in the book, including her pregnancy with then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s unborn child. She said she was about 19 when Timberlake pressured her to have an abortion.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy,” Spears wrote of the pregnancy. “I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”

“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy,” she continued. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

Spears described the at-home abortion as being “excruciating,” saying she was “crying and sobbing” for “hours.”

“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it,” she wrote. “And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father. To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Though Spears claimed on the book’s publication day that she had the “highest selling celebrity memoir in history,” that’s not a factual statement. Recently, Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” sold 1.6 million copies in its first week, per NBC News.

“The Woman in Me” is narrated by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams, who is being lauded for her vocal efforts. According to Gallery, the memoir is the fastest-selling audio release in the company’s history, partially credited to Williams’ work on the project.
