Britney Spears Gets Wellness Check After Posting Disturbing Video Dancing With Knives: Report

Britney Spears reportedly got a visit from law enforcement after the singer posted a disturbing video on Instagram this week showing her dancing with two giant butcher knives in her hands, which had many fans concerned about her mental stability.

Sources told TMZ that the video of the 41-year-old pop star was seen by authorities at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department who reportedly went out to the “Womanizer” hitmaker’s California home to check on her.

Once they determined Spears was okay, they left.

Spears responded to the online backlash by defending herself in a follow-up post, writing that people should “Lighten up about the knives” because she was just “copying Shakira.”

During Shakira’s recent appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, the singer performed a belly dancing routine while wielding two large knives.

Spears wrote in the original post that she “started playing in the kitchen with knives today !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon !!!”

In a later post, fans noticed she had a bandage on her arm and was no longer dancing with the knives.

Initially, Spears had allowed comments on the first post, but later turned them off. Some commenters included concerns about not only Spears, but also her pets, which could be seen in the background.

“Those poor dogs just ran scared they need to be rescued and she needs HELP,” one response said. Another added, “I’m now concerned about her having dogs let alone any animals after this video.”

One social media user wrote, “Look at this. The debate is over. Britney Spears is insane and can’t take care of herself. At this point we even have to ask if she could be a danger to others. For a year she’s been dancing incessantly in the exact same spot, and now she’s even waving knives around.”

“Britney Spears Pulled out the Knives for this latest video…. She’s Absolutely MENTALLY UNSTABLE,” another added. “I guess all the Free Britney Idiots won’t be satisfied until she Stabs herself or some Unlucky person near by [sic]….”

However, there were other fans who were quick to defend Spears. “Shakira did this in front of millions yet not one person said s**t,” one person wrote. “This isn’t a big deal, it’s literally fake knives.”

“Look at her form in this video!” another added. “She’s not going to hurt anyone.”

In November 2021, a judge terminated Spears’ nearly 14-year conservatorship, which was controlled by her father, Jamie Spears.
