<p>Voters in Chile rejected a brand new proposed Constitution that would have made the conservative Latin American country into one of the most far-left countries in the world.</p>
<p>The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/03/world/americas/chile-constitution-vote.html">noted</a> that the new Constitution would have legalized abortion, mandated universal government-run healthcare, promoted woke gender initiatives, granted rights to animals and the environment, and would have given them government-provided care &#8220;from birth to death,&#8221; including a right to housing, education, retirement benefits, internet, free legal advice, sanitation and more.</p>
<p>The extreme Constitution would have also eliminated the country&#8217;s Senate, something that many on far-left want to happen in the U.S.</p>
<p>With 96+% of the votes counted, an overwhelming majority of Chileans, almost two-thirds, rejected the attempt to transform the country into a radical leftist social experiment.</p>
<p>&#8220;Today we&#8217;re consolidating a great majority of Chileans who saw rejection as a path of hope,&#8221; said Carlos Salinas, a spokesman for the Citizens&#8217; House for Rejection. &#8220;We want to tell the government of President Gabriel Boric&#8230; that &#8216;today you must be the president of all Chileans and together we must move forward.&#8221;</p>
<p>The country&#8217;s rejection of the new Constitution is a major setback for new far-left President Gabriel Boric, whose ruling coalition <a href="https://en.mercopress.com/2022/06/02/chilean-president-wants-full-ban-on-gun-ownership">includes</a> members of Chile’s Communist Party.</p>
<p>Boric <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chilean-president-gabriel-boric-announces-a-push-toward-a-total-ban-on-gun-ownership">announced</a> during a speech a few months ago his intent to completely ban his citizen’s ability to protect themselves by owning firearms.</p>
<p>“I want everyone listening to us to know that gun violence will not be tolerated in our country,” he said, according to a translation provided to The Daily Wire. “And that’s why our ‘Fewer Guns, More Safety’ program proposes a radical limitation on their legal access. And from now I’m asking you, this honorable Congress, all of your support to approve a law that allows us to advance toward a total ban on gun ownership.”</p>
<p>Boric’s extremist push on restricting the ability to own a gun in his country comes as far-left Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a <a href="https://fee.org/articles/justin-trudeau-said-he-admired-china-s-dictatorship-canadians-should-have-believed-him/">communist sympathizer</a>, announced late last month a push to ban the sale of handguns.</p>
