The son of a WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Kevin Nash reportedly passed away this week. He was only 26 years old.

“On behalf of Kevin and Tamara Nash, I have to unfortunately report that their son Tristen Nash has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” a statement said. “Tristen recently started working on Kevin’s new podcast and the two enjoyed their time together.”

“The Nash family asks if you could please respect their privacy during this time,” the statement continued.

Officials have not released any details on the cause of death.

Kevin Nash is a self-described Democrat who advocates for the LGBTQ community. Nash played college basketball for the University of Tennessee before later joining the U.S. Army.

After later hurting his knee while playing basketball in Europe, Nash decided to pursue professional wrestling, where he won several world title belts and nearly two dozen championships.

TMZ reported that Tristen Nash’s death comes after Kevin Nash lost one of his best friends earlier this year, Scott Hall, 63.

The death of Nash’s son is the second major death to touch the sports world this week after a freshman lineman at an SEC school passed away on Wednesday.

Eighteen-year-old offensive lineman Samuel Westmoreland, who played at Mississippi State University, died unexpectedly Wednesday, just two days before what would have been his 19th birthday.

“The Mississippi State Athletics Family is heartbroken by the sudden death of Sam Westmoreland,” Head Coach Mike Leach said in a statement. “Sam was a beloved son, brother and teammate, and a tremendous young man with a limitless future.”

“He will always be remembered and deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him,” Leach continued. “The entire MSU Family mourns as our thoughts and prayers go out to the Westmoreland family. Our highest priority is the support of the Westmoreland family and our student-athletes during this troubling time.”

No details were released by the university about the cause of Westmoreland’s death and the school said that it was cooperating with an ongoing investigation into the matter by Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office and the Oktibbeha County Coroner’s Office.
