<p>The State Department&#8217;s inspector general has reportedly launched &#8220;a series of investigations&#8221; into the Biden administration&#8217;s pullout from Afghanistan.</p>
<p>A memo dated last week from Secretary of State Antony Blinken that was obtained by Politico said that the investigations will focus on &#8220;the State Department’s Special Immigrant Visa program; Afghans processed for refugee admission into the U.S.; resettlement of those refugees and visa recipients; and the emergency evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul &#8216;to include evacuation of U.S. citizens and Afghan nationals.’”</p>
<p>Diana Shaw, the State Department’s acting inspector general, informed several congressional committees on Monday of the work that her office is conducting.</p>
<p>State OIG spokesperson Ryan Holden downplayed the news, insisting that &#8220;reviews&#8221; and not &#8220;investigations&#8221; were taking place. Politico specifically <a href="https://archive.vn/PYzbU">referred</a> to the actions as &#8220;investigations.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;State OIG notified its committees of jurisdiction today of planned projects in the areas you mention,&#8221; Holden said. &#8220;This work will be conducted in coordination with other members of the IG community. However, it is inaccurate to say that these projects are investigations. We indicated to Congress that these projects will be reviews.&#8221;</p>
<p>The report said that inspectors general from other departments were likely to launch investigations into the chaotic events that unfolded under Democrat President Joe Biden&#8217;s leadership.</p>
<p>The report added:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>The Pentagon&#8217;s IG recently announced three reviews related to the evacuation: an evaluation of the botched drone strike in Kabul that killed 10 civilians instead of the Islamic State target; a review of DoD&#8217;s screening process for displaced Afghans; and an audit of DoD support for the relocation of Afghan nationals.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>Biden has faced intense backlash over his disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, including accusations that he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-lied-president-blasted-after-top-generals-directly-contradict-what-biden-said-about-afghanistan">lied</a> to the American people. Biden has also seen his poll numbers <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/washington-secrets/biden-down-to-36-sinking-like-the-titanic">crater</a> down as low as the mid-30s in the weeks following the debacle.</p>
