Canadian conservative news commentator Sheila Gunn Reid shines the light on a radical global warming proponent in her new book “The Case Against David Suzuki: An Unauthorized Biography.” The book is highly critical of Suzuki, an environmental activist who received an honorary degree from the University of Alberta last week.
The author slams the university’s decision to honor Suzuki, whose far-left stance on climate change, she suggests, is both extreme and hypocrtical. She notes that Suzuki, unlike Bill Nye The Science Guy, does have a background in science, but he has not written a research paper or participated in a study in several years. His only participation has been to push the global warming agenda.
“It would be a questionable decision for any university — Suzuki isn’t a scientist, at least he hasn’t practiced real science in decades,” she writes in the introduction.
“He’s a political propagandist, an environmental extremist, and a remarkably intolerant celebrity,” she says.
Reid criticizes Suzuki’s rhetoric on the environment, including calling a 2016 fire that ravaged Fort McMurray, Alberta, a “weather event.” His foundation blamed the tragedy on global warming in a press release.
Suzuki has also urged activists to push for the jailing of politicians and scientists who are skeptical of climate change, Reid writes. While speaking at McGill University, Suzuki told the students to “put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there’s a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they are doing is a criminal act.”
Despite this virtue signaling, Suzuki appears to live a double life in true Bernie Sanders fashion. He has several houses in Canada and had a vacation home in Australia at one time. When he travels to speeches or events, he does not ride in a hydro-powered electric car. He rides fossil fuel-powered vehicles including jets and tour buses. All of this while demanding harsh environmental restrictions on Canada and the United States.
