A large outdoor sign promoting an upcoming speech from The Daily Wire’s Elisha Krauss has been stolen from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
Krauss is set to speak on the campus, ironically addressing the importance of free speech, on Wednesday, March 10, as part of the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) Robert and Patricia Herbold Lecture Series.
A YAF report published Thursday said that the large sign was placed outside on Sunday evening, but had gone missing by Monday morning.
According to the chairman of the conservative group working with YAF to host Krauss, John Beauchamp, the ad on the opposite side of the structure curiously remained untouched, the report notes.
A police report has been filed with UW-Whitewater authorities, YAF reported, noting that conservative students “intend to post more advertisements at other campus locations as soon as possible.”
“We are disappointed by the intolerance of UW leftists,” Beauchamp told YAF.
“Colleges are supposed to be a place for the sharing of new ideas and free speech,” he continued, “and instead are becoming breeding grounds for the Left and their agenda of shouting down ideas of those they disagree with. We will not be bothered by this leftist harassment of our advertising.”
Krauss told The Daily Wire, “It’s continually amazing to me that even the presence of my photo and a promo for a speech about free speech is so triggering to leftists that they must destroy it.”
“My seven-month-old and I frequently travel to college campuses to speak about the principles of conservatism, free speech, cancel culture and the pro-life movement,” she added. “I don’t think we’re that scary.”
The actions of protesters on UW-Whitewater’s campus follows a nation-wide pattern of left-wing campus activists targeting conservative pundits, including multiple Daily Wire commentators and podcast hosts.
In recent days, Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro has again become the subject of campus protests. As reported by The Daily Wire on Tuesday, left-wing student activists protesting Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro’s upcoming speech at the University of Central Florida via YAF cowed the student government into blocking funds for the event.
“Amid pressure from a student activist group, the student government of the University of Central Florida, a publicly funded university located in Orlando, recently voted against allowing funds to go to a student event scheduled for March featuring Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro,” the report outlined.
“The conservative group hosting the event says members of the student government have singled out Shapiro’s speech,” The Daily Wire noted. “The bill received more scrutiny than similar proposals, said College Republicans Vice Chairman Didi Malka. The ‘unfavorable’ vote is an example of those in power allowing their ideological ‘biases’ to stand in the way of ‘intellectual diversity,’ something universities have traditionally been committed to promoting rather than discouraging.”
“No other funding bill has been treated with the amount of scrutiny ours has received, and our bill has met every threshold Student Government requires for an RSO to receive funding,” Malka told YAF. “I am saddened to see that certain senators have put their own biases in front of providing intellectual diversity and we hope to convince them next week to change their minds.”
