<p>Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher ripped into Senator Cory Booker after the latter posted a series of photos celebrating his engagement to Alexis Lewis, saying that while the New Jersey Democrat was certainly to be congratulated, he had a few pressing questions.</p>
<p>Maher, during his Friday evening show, shared the photos from Booker&#8217;s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DOHGXYujmKy/?hl=en&amp;img_index=5">Instagram post</a> and joked that they reminded him more of a television commercial for a pharmaceutical company than anything else.</p>

<p>&#8220;New rule!&#8221; Maher began the segment, saying, &#8220;After we congratulate Senator Cory Booker on his recent engagement, he has to explain why his engagement photos look like an ad for prescription drugs.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Because these pictures don&#8217;t make me think, &#8216;Great, now we can run for president without the stigma of being a bachelor,'&#8221; Maher quipped. &#8220;They make me think, &#8216;Don&#8217;t let moderate to severe ulcerative colitis stand in your way. Ask your doctor about Zorlaxa.&#8221;</p>
<p>Booker had only just revealed that he was in a serious relationship a short time prior to the announcement, which came some three years after his split from actress Rosario Dawson.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée,&#8221; Booker said of Alexis in his Instagram post. &#8220;We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us.
