President Joe Biden took a slight breather from his vacation to comment on the news that six more hostages — taken by Hamas terrorists into Gaza on October 7th of last year — had been found dead.
The six hostages — including 23-year-old American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin — were found by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Rafah. According to multiple reports, they had been executed by Hamas only a short time before their bodies were found.
Biden, who was spending time at his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, after returning from a jaunt to California, put out a statement Sunday claiming that despite all appearances to the contrary, he had been “working tirelessly” since October 7 to ensure the safe return of all hostages.
“I’ve worked tirelessly to bring Hersh home, and Jill and I could not be more heartbroken by the news of his death. It is tragic and reprehensible. Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes. And we’ll continue working towards a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages,” he posted via X along with a lengthy statement laying out some of the details of Hersh Goldberg-Polin’s story.

Critics were not buying Biden’s claim however, and a number of them pointed out the fact that since he was effectively forced out of the 2024 presidential race, he has transitioned almost seamlessly from one vacation to the next.

“When Israel wanted to go to Rafah—where Hersh was being held and then executed this week —to rescue hostages, you threatened to cut off weapons to Israel. You’ve repeatedly protected Hamas from Israeli justice, and Hamas, sensing your weakness, refused to surrender,” one posted, noting that the Biden-Harris administration had repeatedly warned Israel not to engage in Rafah despite knowing it was Hamas’ last stronghold.

“Hamas didn’t just kill an American. They held him in brutal bondage for nearly a year. And all the while Biden and Harris urged Israel to show restraint. These are the wages of such feckless weakness,” David Marcus posted.
