Biden Hugs Actress Eva Longoria, Jokes He Met Her When She Was 17

President Biden gave actress Eva Longoria one of his classic long hugs Thursday at the White House and joked about how he met her when she was underage.

Longoria was at the White House for a film screening of “Flamin’ Hot,” Longoria’s directorial debut, on the South Lawn.

“We’ve known each other a long time,” Biden told the audience.

“She was 17, I was 40,” he said, which was met with laughter from the crowd.

Biden would have been 50 when Longoria was 17. When he was 40, she would have been a seven-year-old.

Biden, 80, gave Longoria, 48, one of his signature hugs, holding her close to him until Longoria moved backwards, taking his hands and moving them off of her sides. The president’s hands appear to almost graze her breasts as the hug ends.

Longoria supported Biden in 2020. The “Desperate Housewives” actress has known Biden for at least a decade and appeared on the campaign trail with him and former President Barack Obama in 2012.

Biden has a history of uncomfortable physical interactions with women and young girls.

One of the president’s most famous awkward touching moments occurred in 2015, when Biden got close to Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s wife during her husband’s swearing-in ceremony. In an infamous photo from the moment, Biden stood behind Stephanie Carter with his hands on her shoulders and whispered into her ear as her husband delivered remarks just feet away.

Biden has also been filmed repeatedly kissing or trying to kiss a small girl who shrinks into her father’s arms, pulling a young girl towards him and leaning forward to whisper in her ear while she leans away looking uncomfortable, pulling another young girl towards him and touching her torso, caressing and kissing the top of a young girl’s head, and touching the chin of a woman who pulls away.

Biden’s habit has not been lost on his political opponents.

Despite his awkward moment with Longoria on Thursday, Biden praised her film, which is somewhat controversial.

“Flamin’ Hot” is about a Mexican American janitor working at Frito Lay who allegedly came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

The compelling underdog tale has charmed listeners, but the claims of Richard Montanez, the man the janitor character is based on, are doubtful, according to a Los Angeles Times investigation that interviewed more than a dozen former Frito-Lay employees and looked at the archival record.

Frito-Lay has also said Montanez “was not involved” in the idea for the spicy Cheetos.

“When I think about tonight’s movie, I think about courage. So many of you, your ancestors left behind all that they knew to start a new life in the United States,” Biden said Thursday.

A White House official defended the decision to screen the film, telling the Associated Press that the film is not a documentary and that the White House chose to screen it to give Americans from different backgrounds a chance to see themselves reflected in film and celebrated by the president.
