Biden Admin Official Quietly Voices Concern Over Another Illegal Immigration Surge

Anonymous officials in the Biden administration are voicing their concerns over another potential surge in illegal border crossings, a recent report from POLITICO reveals.

While the Biden administration has touted the decline in migrant encounters since the end of Title 42, some officials reportedly fear that the success could be shortlived.

“There was absolutely a feeling of, we can exhale now,” an anonymous former Biden official remarked. “But there’s also enough experience that nobody is going to roll out a band, or say it’s mission accomplished. It’s too fluid.”

Meanwhile, an anonymous immigration policy expert discussed talks with the Biden White House, noting that processing centers in Guatemala are overwhelmed.

“They are swimming in numbers. They are swimming in capacity. The scale of the operation here has been significant,” the individual reportedly remarked, adding, “They planned as much as they possibly could with the resources they have.”

The former Biden official went on to say that the administration simply doesn’t know what the future holds for the border, stating, “We don’t know because we’re in such new territory. This administration is really developing and using new tools together that have never been used before.”

“Are the measures big enough that they can diminish the urge to come between ports of entry and illegally? Nobody knows. And if they tell you they know, then they’re bulls****ing,” the official said.

While the Biden administration notes a drop in migrant encounters after the end of Title 42, tens of thousands of foreign nationals are gaining entry to the United States through the CBP One app. On this digital platform, migrants can schedule asylum appointments before actually arriving at the border.

Roughly 80,000 foreign nationals have used the CBP One app to enter the U.S. over the last four months. The Biden administration recently increased the number of foreign nationals who will be able to enter the United States through the CBP One app to about 40,000 per month, up from roughly 30,000 per month.

The figure does not include the up to 30,000 foreign nationals who enter the U.S. from countries like Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela under a different humanitarian parole program.

Meanwhile, an estimated 1.5 million illegal immigrant gotaways have been recorded since Biden took office in 2021. The figure dwarfs the 415,000 total gotaways reported for 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration.

A recent CBS News poll suggests that most Americans are unsatisfied with the state of the southern border under the Biden administration. The poll found that 63% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the United States border, while just 37% say they approve.
