House Democrats launched an aggressive new legislative assault on Israel, introducing sweeping measures designed to impose severe economic sanctions on the Jewish state over its presence in the biblical areas of Judea and Samaria, where virtually all the events in the Bible occurred.

Led by Reps. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Sara Jacobs (D-CA), alongside far-Left Squad members and dozens of co-sponsors, the so-called “Stop the Settlements Act” marks a dramatic escalation in Democrats’ campaign against Jerusalem. The proposed bill aims to freeze assets, revoke visas, and impose a total U.S. import ban on goods produced in the area, specifically targeting critical strategic zones like E1, located just east of Jerusalem.

The move directly ignores the thousands of years of Jewish heritage rooted in the land as well as the military reality that Judea and Samaria provide to keep millions of Israelis safe.

For the Jewish people, Judea and Samaria are not mere bargaining chips, they represent the historic cradle of Jewish civilization.

Long before modern border disputes, the biblical heartland served as the stage for ancient Jewish history. Cities scattered across the region carry tremendous archaeological and spiritual weight.

Hebron is home to the Cave of the Patriarchs, where Abraham purchased land to bury Sarah, marking one of the earliest recorded Jewish land acquisitions in human history.

Shiloh is the site where the Holy Tabernacle stood for more than three centuries during the period of the Judges, long before King David established Jerusalem as the nation’s capital.

Bethlehem is the ancestral homeland of King David, deeply embedded in the historical texts of the Book of Samuel, and of course, Bethlehem is the birthplace of Jesus.

The Mount Hebron and Samarian Hills are full of ancient synagogues, ritual baths and winepresses dating back to the Second Temple and Hasmonean periods.

To sever Israel’s connection to Judea and Samaria is to deny the foundational history of the Jewish nation itself.

But beyond history, Judea and Samaria represent a strategic necessity for Israel’s national survival. Geography leaves the country with zero room for error. Israel’s coastal plain, where the majority of its population, commercial hubs, and major international airport are situated, is a narrow strip of land. Without the Samarian ridge and control of the Jordan Valley to the east, Israel’s heartland sits just nine to 15 miles away from hostile launching pads.

Controlling this elevated land gives the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) vital strategic depth. Military strategists have long pointed out that holding the mountain ridge provides an early-warning advantage, as radar and observation posts situated on the high peaks offer oversight across the entire region, protecting coastal cities from aerial or missile threats.

Maintaining a military presence along the eastern border acts as a shield against weapons smuggling, infiltration, and potential troop movements from regional enemies farther east. Direct physical access allows security forces to dismantle terror cells before they can launch strikes into Israel’s primary civilian centers.
