<p>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said during an interview over the weekend that President Joe Biden set a &#8220;dangerous&#8221; precedent by pardoning his son.</p>
<p>Sanders made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet The Press&#8221; with Kristen Welker when asked about whether the administration should give blanket pardons to current officials so that they are immune from prosecution under the incoming Trump administration.</p>
<p>&#8220;Well, I&#8217;m a little bit nervous about it,&#8221; he said, adding that the White House &#8220;might want to consider&#8221; preemptive pardons &#8220;very seriously.&#8221;</p>
<p>Welker then asked Sanders about Biden&#8217;s lies to the American public that he would not pardon his son, convicted felon Hunter Biden.</p>
<p>&#8220;Senator, was it the right decision for the country to pardon Hunter Biden?&#8221; she asked.</p>

<p>&#8220;When you have his opponents going after his family, as a father, as a parent, I think we can all understand Biden trying to protect his son and his family,&#8221; he said. &#8220;On the other hand, I think the precedent being set is kind of a dangerous one. It&#8217;s a very wide-open pardon which could under different circumstances lead to problems in terms of future presidents.&#8221;</p>
