<p>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said during an interview over the weekend that President Joe Biden set a &#8220;dangerous&#8221; precedent by pardoning his son.</p>
<p>Sanders made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet The Press&#8221; with Kristen Welker when asked about whether the administration should give blanket pardons to current officials so that they are immune from prosecution under the incoming Trump administration.</p>
<p>&#8220;Well, I&#8217;m a little bit nervous about it,&#8221; he said, adding that the White House &#8220;might want to consider&#8221; preemptive pardons &#8220;very seriously.&#8221;</p>
<p>Welker then asked Sanders about Biden&#8217;s lies to the American public that he would not pardon his son, convicted felon Hunter Biden.</p>
<p>&#8220;Senator, was it the right decision for the country to pardon Hunter Biden?&#8221; she asked.</p>

<p>Two children were killed and at least 17 people were wounded when a shooter opened fire at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.</p>
<p>The gunman, who was in his early 20s, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O&#8217;Hara. During a press conference after the shooting, O&#8217;Hara said that the two children who were killed were ages 8 and 10. The shooter fired through church windows during school Mass, striking children and worshipers. The students were attending Mass at the Catholic church next to the school when the shooter opened fire.</p>
<p>The shooter was identified as Robin Westman, according to <a href="https://x.com/peterjhasson/status/1960758053625627109">multiple</a> <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/27/us-news/minneapolis-catholic-school-gunman-idd-as-robin-westman-while-possible-manifesto-shows-psychotic-obsession-with-mass-shooters/">reports</a>. In 2020, Westman reportedly <a href="https://x.com/peterjhasson/status/1960758053625627109">changed</a> his name from Robert to Robin because he &#8220;identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification,&#8221; according to a Minnesota government document shared online by Washington Free Beacon Editor Peter J. Hasson. Since Westman was a minor at the time of the name change, his mother had to sign the application.</p>
<p>The shooter was carrying a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, and killed himself after firing &#8220;dozens of rounds&#8221; at innocent children, according to O&#8217;Hara. Police believe the shooter fired all three weapons. The shooter barricaded the students and staff in the church by placing a wooden plank against some of the side doors, in an attempt to prevent them from fleeing, O&#8217;Hara said.</p>
<p>The police chief added that 17 other people were wounded in the shooting, 14 of whom were children. One adult and six children are in critical condition, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/08/27/us/minneapolis-church-shooting/4bb55715-d5ea-591a-8eb6-cbd06d35e4b2?smid=url-share">according</a> to the Hennepin County Medical Center.</p>
<p>President Donald Trump said that he had been briefed on the shooting.</p>
<p>&#8220;The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115101274999111772">wrote</a> on Truth Social. &#8220;The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!&#8221;</p>
<p>The Richfield Police Department, which neighbors Minneapolis, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RichfieldPD/">said</a>, &#8220;Police are responding to an active shooter call. Officers are reporting 20 victims. A man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle was reported at the scene. EMS has requested a Mass Casualty Response and fire crews are bringing in additional resources.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information,&#8221; Minnesota Governor Tim Walz posted on X. &#8220;I&#8217;m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific violence.&#8221;</p>

<p>Police said the shooting was first reported at 8:27 a.m. local time, and more than 65 units responded. The church and school are located on the 500 block of West 54th Street in Minneapolis. Annunciation Catholic School serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Wednesday marked the school&#8217;s third day of the new school year.</p>

Shooter Targets Catholic School In Minneapolis, Multiple Children Killed

<p>President Donald Trump forcefully shot down a Wall Street Journal report on Thursday night claiming that he wrote a birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein that included a sketch of a naked woman, saying he&#8217;d sue the outlet for claiming otherwise.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is not me,&#8221; Trump told the outlet. &#8220;This is a fake thing.&#8221;</p>
<p>He followed that up with a lengthy statement a few hours after its publication, stating that the paper&#8217;s owner Rupert Murdoch and editor-in-chief Emma Tucker were &#8220;warned directly&#8221; by Trump that the letter &#8220;was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;President Trump will be suing the Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Mr. Murdoch, shortly,&#8221; Trump said.</p>

<p>The Wall Street Journal article claimed that it had obtained a &#8220;letter bearing Trump&#8217;s name&#8221; that was included in a birthday book created for Epstein. It claims that the letter was part of a leather-bound album, and that Trump framed his letter within &#8220;the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker.&#8221;</p>
<p>Notably, the paper did not include an image of the letter it claimed to have reviewed. It says the letter was part of the trove of Department of Justice papers that have come to be known as the &#8220;Epstein files.&#8221; Neither the DOJ nor the FBI responded to its requests for comment, it disclosed.</p>
<p>Trump has sought to shut down furor surrounding the Epstein disclosures, which started when the DOJ announced nearly two weeks ago that there would be no major release pertaining to Epstein. It also announced that there was no &#8220;client list&#8221; and concluded that there was no evidence calling into question Epstein&#8217;s suicide.</p>
<p>After lashing out at the Wall Street Journal article, Trump publicly stated that he&#8217;d asked his attorney general, Pam Bondi, to release &#8220;any and all&#8221; pertinent Grand Jury testimony on Epstein that a court would allow.</p>
<p>Bondi said she was &#8220;ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.&#8221;</p>

<p>Trump&#8217;s initial post refuting the Wall Street Journal&#8217;s report argues that if the letter was genuine, there is no chance it wouldn&#8217;t have &#8220;been revealed by Comey, Brennan, Crooked Hillary, and other Radical left Lunatics years ago.&#8221;</p>
<p>All of the documents in question were in the government&#8217;s possession during the Biden administration.</p>

<p>While it is well-documented that Trump and Epstein were friendly when they both lived in New York City, there is no evidence that Trump was involved in any of Epstein&#8217;s criminal wrongdoing. Epstein was not accused of sexual relations with young girls until 2006, years after the two had a falling out.</p>

Trump Threatens To Sue WSJ Over ‘FAKE’ Epstein Letter, Orders Bondi To Unseal Testimony

<p>Speaker Mike Johnson has President Donald Trump&#8217;s signature bill at the finish line.</p>
<p>During a marathon overnight session that at times appeared doomed, Republicans voted 219-213 at about 3:30 a.m. to send the bill to a final vote.</p>
<p>The late hour was not due to procedure, but rather indecision on the Republican side of the aisle. After five Republicans voted against the rule to proceed, coupled with a handful of Republicans who were holding out, Johnson had to scramble to not only find votes, but also get Republicans to switch theirs.</p>
<p>Just before midnight, Johnson said he would hold the vote open for as long as it needed, and started to whip votes, with a helping hand from Trump.</p>
<p>&#8220;Largest Tax Cuts in History and a Booming Economy vs. Biggest Tax Increase in History, and a Failed Economy,&#8221; Trump posted as the legislation stalled. &#8220;What are Republicans waiting for??? What are you trying to prove? MAGA IS NOT HAPPY.&#8221;</p>
<p>Eventually, Johnson got enough votes to the House floor — and convinced one of the opponents, Kentucky&#8217;s Thomas Massie — to vote in favor of the rule. Johnson told reporters that Trump was intimately involved with getting the vote across the finish line, following the play-by-play as he whipped votes.</p>
<p>The final hurdle is a speech by the House&#8217;s top Democrat, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who began speaking just after the rule passed and, hours later, is still going. Though some expected him to speak for roughly an hour, Jeffries said in his speech: &#8220;I&#8217;m planning to take my sweet time.&#8221;</p>
<p>Jeffries is permitted to speak for as long as he wants, though all he can do is delay the vote, not stop a final vote from occurring. He&#8217;s filling his speech with testimonials from Americans on Medicaid and other social welfare programs that Democrats say would be imperiled by Trump&#8217;s spending legislation.</p>

<p>Johnson had estimated that the final vote would take place at 8:30 a.m., but Jeffries was still going as the hour passed. Still, he appears set to meet Trump&#8217;s Independence Day deadline by a full day.</p>
<p>Passing the &#8220;One, Big, Beautiful Bill&#8221; — which includes not only a major tax cut championed by Trump but also funds his biggest campaign promises — would be a major victory for the president. He had urged Republicans in Congress to put all of their priorities into one piece of legislation, and has been intimately involved in getting it through with narrow majorities in both chambers.</p>
<p>Trump says his legislation, which has been criticized by even some of his allies for not doing enough to reduce the deficit, will lead to unprecedented economic growth.</p>

Trillions of Dollars are now being invested into the USA, more than ever before.”</p>
<p>“Likewise,” he added, “hundreds of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs are filling up the coffers of Treasury. The Tariff money has already arrived and is setting new records! We are growing our way out of the Sleepy Joe Biden MESS that he and the Democrats left us, and it is happening much faster than anyone thought possible.”</p>
<p>As of 9:00 a.m., Jeffries was still talking on the House floor and again stated his intention to take his time. Vice President JD Vance wrote on X that Republicans who have been there overnight are falling further in line as they listen to his opposition.</p>
<p>&#8220;GOP Congressman just texted me: &#8216;I was undecided on the bill but then I watched Hakeem Jeffries performance and now I’m a firm yes,'&#8221; Vance wrote.</p>
<p>Trump in a Thursday morning post indicated that he was pleased with the effort to get things to the finish line.</p>

‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ At Finish Line After Trump And Johnson Rally Overnight Support

<p>President Donald Trump signaled on Friday that the United States has no choice but to acquire Greenland from Denmark for national security reasons.</p>
<p>The president doubled down on his push for the island nation while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office — just a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Trump was dead serious about taking over the island.</p>
<p>&#8220;We need Greenland very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not a question of, &#8216;Do you think we can do without it?&#8217; We can&#8217;t. If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we&#8217;re not going to be able to do that. We&#8217;re not relying on Denmark or anybody else to take care of that situation.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;And we&#8217;re not talking about peace for the United States,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We&#8217;re talking about world peace. We&#8217;re talking about international security. And right now, you look at it, you have warships all over the place going through right along Greenland. We&#8217;re not going to let that happen. We cannot let that happen, or if it&#8217;s going to happen, we have to be protective of our country.&#8221;</p>
<p>The president said that &#8220;modern day weaponry&#8221; made Greenland &#8220;very important&#8221; from a strategic defense standpoint.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you notice, also some of those, you could call them roadways, they&#8217;re water roadways, but some of those areas are opening up and they&#8217;re opening up,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Ice breakers out there, they&#8217;re opening them. And by just nature, they&#8217;re opening up and they&#8217;re headed right into China, right into Russia, and we have no choice.&#8221;</p>

Trump Signals U.S. Has No Choice But To Acquire Greenland

<p>Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) was grilled during an interview on Friday for calling on Trump defense officials to resign over their use of a Signal chat group given that he never called for Biden defense officials to resign when they had major screwups.</p>
<p>Coons made the remarks on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk Box&#8221; when pressed by co-host Joe Kernen over his calls for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to resign while he remained silent during the Biden years with regard to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.</p>
<p>&#8220;Did you call for Lloyd Austin&#8217;s resignation?&#8221; Kernen asked. &#8220;Not only did we lose 13 service members, we left $70 billion worth of equipment that fell into the hands of the Taliban. Couple of years later, he was out of pocket for two weeks and didn&#8217;t tell the White House.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Did you ask for him to resign at this point?&#8221; he pressed. &#8220;Are you actually asking for Hegseth and Waltz to resign when you didn&#8217;t ask for Lloyd Austin?&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons claimed that Austin not do anything that put United States national security at risk by getting health care treatment despite not notifying anyone about his hospitalization and surgery for cancer.</p>
<p>&#8220;What about Afghanistan? What about Afghanistan?&#8221; Kernen pressed. &#8220;Did you guys forget that? Is the statute of limitations is over for 4 years?&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons ignored the question and instead continued to talk about Austin&#8217;s surgery for cancer.</p>
<p>Kernen continued to press Coons about Afghanistan, noting that in the past, he had referred to Biden&#8217;s disastrous withdraw as a success.</p>
<p>&#8220;Afghanistan was not a success,&#8221; Kernen said.</p>
<p>Coons continued to deflect by starting to talk about the Houthis.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am not saying that the attack on the Houthis was not a success,&#8221; Coons said. &#8220;I am saying that he demonstrably violated a directive that was just shared in the Pentagon about don&#8217;t use Signal for classified information, it is not reliably secure. And one of the folks on that group chat was in Russia at the time that that information being &#8212; look, all of us use apps like WhatsApp and Signal.&#8221;</p>
<p>Kernen called out Coons for deflecting: &#8220;You&#8217;re running out the clock on Afghanistan.&#8221;</p>
<p>Coons then proceeded to blame President Donald Trump for Biden&#8217;s disaster, even though he admitted that actions that were taken under Biden&#8217;s leadership were &#8220;badly handled.&#8221;</p>
<p>When asked if he should have called for Austin to resign over the debacle, Coons responded: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know whether Lloyd Austin is the person who should have been held accountable for it, but there should have been accountability.&#8221;</p>
