Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro blasted the American legacy media for seemingly allying with Hamas after the terrorist organization brutally attacked Israel on October 7.
Shapiro’s comments came while discussing the Israel-Hamas war with conservative analyst Mark Levin on his Fox News show “Life, Liberty, Levin” on Sunday. The two political commentators first discussed the “insanity” of the Biden administration sending aid to the Gaza Strip, which likely ended up in the hands of Hamas, and unfreezing $6 billion for Hamas’ backer Iran.
But the commentators’ criticism didn’t stop with those in the White House.
“Isn’t it also insane, Ben Shapiro, that the greatest ally the terrorists have in the United States is the American media?” Levin asked. “Just as it was the greatest ally of the Nazis by covering up the Holocaust?”
“It’s absolutely despicable,” Shapiro replied. “The American media has drawn a moral parity between Israel and its enemies for decades at this point.”
Hamas killed more than 1,300 people after invading Israel last Saturday, slaughtering Israeli families. Over the course of the week, the scale of Hamas’ atrocities against the Israelis has become more evident. During their attack, the terrorists targeted the most vulnerable, including raping and killing young women and slaughtering children and infants.
The Daily Wire host said that the legacy media “pretends” what Hamas is upset over is “a territorial dispute,” even though Hamas will “literally say to your face what they want is to kill Jews.”
“And the entire American media looks the other way and pretends it’s not happening,” Shapiro added. “They’ll say, ‘Well, but we can examine your ulterior motive. We can tell what you’re really thinking.’ And this really goes to the absolute arrogance of Western liberals and that is [believing] ‘everyone thinks like they do.’”

“The media buys into that same nonsense because when it comes to this particular conflict, the media has decided in their heads that the Western country has to be wrong by nature,” said Shapiro. “And because it’s wrong by nature, that means that anything that happens to that country must have inevitably been caused by the ‘occupation.’”
Shapiro noted that the Israel-Hamas conflict that the legacy media attempts to spin as stemming from Israel’s “oppressive occupation” — even though Israel pulled out of the Gaza Strip in 2005.
“The victims [of the Hamas attack] are living in unoccupied areas. … They’re living in the south of Israel which has been a part of Israel since 1947-48. And even the people getting slaughtered are disproportionately people of the political Left,” Shapiro said, noting that Hamas killed hundreds of young people at a dance festival.
“That doesn’t matter to [the media] at all. The facts are completely irrelevant to the narrative.”
