The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro tore into Joe Biden Tuesday evening for the president’s remarks backing gender ideology during the State of the Union. 
Biden called for lawmakers to get the radically progressive Equality Act to his desk, criticizing the “onslaught of state laws targeting transgender Americans and their families” as wrong. 
His criticism echoes the media’s framing of legislation prohibiting minors from obtaining transgender surgeries or hormones. 
“As I said last year, especially to our younger transgender Americans, I will always have your back as your President, so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential,” Biden said.
Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shapiro-the-great-american-renewal-begins-when-their-control-of-american-lives-ends">insisted</a> that “on issue after issue, Joe Biden is not merely wrong, he is aggressively wrong.”

“America deserves a president who sides with parents rather than corrupt teachers unions that shut down schools and mask toddlers and indoctrinate kids into the perverse lies of gender theory and the overt bigotry of critical race theory,” said Shapiro. 
“At least Joe Biden has brought transgenderism and diversity, equity and inclusion to the Defense Department,” he added. “Don’t you feel safer already?
Progressive activist groups quickly praised Biden’s comments on transgender youth and the Equality Act.
“The president’s call for action couldn’t come at a more urgent moment as state legislatures across the country are increasingly advancing discriminatory measures that seek to take us backward as a nation, shamelessly attacking transgender youth,” Joni Madison, Interim President of the Human Rights Campaign, <a href="https://www.hrc.org/press-releases/sotu-human-rights-campaign-applauds-president-biden-for-renewing-call-to-pass-equality-act-condemning-attacks-on-trans-youth-by-state-legislatures">said in a statement</a>. 
“We applaud the president’s commitment to having the backs of trans youth, and HRC stands in solidarity with the president, pledging to continue fighting back against the harmful, discriminatory attacks on trans kids and families who deserve to be supported, not attacked, by our elected leaders,” the organization continued. “The president’s message tonight is one that must be amplified across the country, especially amongst young transgender people.”

Shapiro also warned in his response to the State of the Union that “we are in the midst of a great American decline.” 
“But that decline is reversible,” he said. “It starts now. Attend your local school board meetings, demand an end to the radical indoctrination of your children.” 
“Join campaigns in your cities and states for candidates who care about your rights,” he continued. “Vote Joe Biden’s enablers out of Congress and the Senate in November. And then, vote Joe Biden out of office in 2024. The great American renewal begins when their control of American lives ends.”
