Avenatti: Time’s Report On My Racially Charged Comments ‘Bullsh**.’ Time: He’s Full Of It.

Embattled “porn lawyer” Michael Avenatti appears to be rapidly losing his status as the great Trump killer of the Left, as recent problematic reports by left-leaning outlets have revealed increasingly ugly details about the once-media darling lawyer.

On Thursday, NBC News revealed — three weeks after the fact, and long after the vote to confirm Kavanaugh — evidence that Avenatti may have manipulated the testimony of a woman he presented as a corroborating witness to Julie Swetnick’s salacious accusations against now-Justice Brettt Kavanaugh.

The same day, Time magazine published a profile on Avenatti portraying him as one of the Democratic frontrunners that included a racially charged quote by the bombastic lawyer. The 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, he suggested, needs to be a white man.

“When you have a white male making the arguments, they carry more weight,” Avenatti, who happens to be a white man, told Time. “Should they carry more weight? Absolutely not. But do they? Yes.”

After backlash, Avenatti accused Time of lying about what he said.

“I never said that, that’s complete bullsh**,” Avenatti told The Daily Caller. “That’s my comment, complete bullsh**.”

Before hanging up, Avenatti tripled down, “No, that’s not what I said.”

The Daily Caller notes that he at first “expressed confusion about the existence of such a profile altogether,” but clearly he has no “confusion” about what he said, or at least what he wants people to believe he said.

The magazine has since responded by saying the same thing back to Avenatti in less colorful language. “Time magazine tells The Daily Caller News Foundation that it stands ‘by our reporting,’” TheDC reports.

The Time report comes amid a series of troubling headlines for Avenatti, most notably the Senate Judiciary Committee announcing on Thursday that it had referred Avenatti and Swetnick for investigation by the Justice Department for making false statements and obstructing federal investigations in leveling unsubstantiated allegations against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Soon after the committee’s announcement, NBC published a damning report detailing evidence that Avenatti may have presented false testimony in a sworn affidavit to the committee from a woman he presented as a corroborating witness to Swetnick’s claims. NBC reports:

In the second [sworn affidavit], the unidentified woman said she witnessed Kavanaugh “spike” the punch at high school parties in order to sexually take advantage of girls. But less than 48 hours before Avenatti released her sworn statement on Twitter, the same woman told NBC News a different story.

Referring to Kavanaugh spiking the punch, “I didn’t ever think it was Brett,” the woman said to reporters in a phone interview arranged by Avenatti on Sept. 30 after repeated requests to speak with other witnesses who might corroborate Swetnick’s claims. As soon as the call began, the woman said she never met Swetnick in high school and never saw her at parties and had only become friends with her when they were both in their 30s.

When asked in the phone interview if she ever witnessed Kavanaugh act inappropriately towards girls, the woman replied, “no.” She did describe a culture of heavy drinking in high school that she took part in, and said Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were part of that group.
