According to police in Seattle, a second shooting in the area known as CHOP, for “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest,” occurred on Sunday night. “A hospital spokesperson says the person was in serious condition,” AP reported, adding, “The person arrived in a private vehicle and was in serious condition, Harborview Medical Center spokesperson Susan Gregg said in a statement.”

The Seattle Police Department tweeted early Monday morning, “Police investigating reported shooting inside CHOP zone. One person at HMC with gun shot wound. Hearing reports of a second shooting, but have not be able to verify at this time. Conflicting reports, will update with more information when available.”

“Dispatch logs place the emergency response at Harvard Avenue and East Pine Street, with the first reports at about 10:42 p.m., though it was unclear where exactly the shooting happened. Seattle fire arrived at 10:46 p.m., two minutes after being dispatched, and went to a predesignated staging location near the perimeter of the protest zone, fire department spokesman David Cuerpo said. A couple of minutes later they were notified that the injured person had already been taken away in a private car, Cuerpo said,” the Seattle Times reported.

On Saturday morning, Seattle Police were informed that two men were transported Harborview Medical Center by CHOP medics. A representative from HMC confirmed that a 19-year-old man, identified by his friends as Lorenzo Anderson, a local rapper who goes by the name “Lil Mob,” had died while the other shooting victim was in critical condition, KIRO reported. CHOP describes itself as a “police-free zone.”

“Police arrived on the scene on foot and were prepared with protective anti-protest gear at the border of the zone … East Precinct police radio chatter said officers who arrived on the scene were collecting shell casings and evidence despite harassment from many zone residents,” Newsweek reported.

Washington Democrat Governor Jay Inslee weakly responded to the shooting Saturday by saying, “We need to have a way for the community to have a way to speak and for police and fire services to be provided. One way or another we obviously need to provide a way to offer protection for people, and that’s a necessity.”

Mike Solan, a member of the Seattle Police Department, and the president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, commented, “We as a community need to come together to find a solution here because it’s not getting done. How many more people need to get killed?  Where’s the justice for the homicide victim? Where’s the justice for their family; Where’s the justice for the Seattle community?” as Q3Fox reported.

Last week, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said abandoning the city’s Third Precinct to the radical protesters was “not my decision,” stating that “rapes, robberies,” and other violent crimes were occurring in the left-wing utopia.
