As reports surfaced that members of the Muslim community warned they might abandon voting for President Biden because of his support for Israel while anti-Semitism has skyrocketed around the globe, the Biden administration has launched a new effort to “counter Islamophobia” and now is reportedly warning Israel that support for its war effort will erode.
“Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken – who departed Thursday for Israel with a message on protecting civilian lives – have all explicitly pressed the case in recent private conversations with the Israelis, telling them that eroding support will have dire strategic consequences for Israel Defense Forces operations against Hamas,” CNN reported Friday.
On October 30, Muslim leaders wrote a letter to Biden and the “Democratic Party leadership” titled “2023 Ceasefire Ultimatum,” in which they vowed to withhold Muslim voter support for “any candidate who did not advocate for a ceasefire”:
We pledge to mobilize Muslim, Arab, and allied voters to withhold endorsement, support, or votes for any candidate who did not advocate for a ceasefire and endorse the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian people. We will mobilize increased voter turnout to make our voices heard. The State of Michigan, in the 2020 election, was decided by a mere 2.6 percent margin of victory and holds 16 crucial electoral votes. We emphasize the significance of Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, where many of our voters reside.
Two days later, Vice President Kamala Harris announced a National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia, stating, “Taking on hate is a national priority. Today, @POTUS and I are announcing the country’s first National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia. This action is the latest step forward in our work to combat a surge of hate in America.”
The Biden administration, reversing the policies of the Trump administration, has cozied up to Iran, which is intimately involved with Israel’s mortal enemies such as Hamas and Hezbollah, since Biden took office. Robert Malley, who used to be Biden’s special envoy to Iran, was put under criminal investigation by the FBI over his handling of classified documents and was accused of being linked to an “Iranian spy ring” operating to shift U.S. policy to favor the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the Biden Administration’s efforts to conceal details about its ongoing secret nuclear negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran from Congress, ignoring statutory obligations for congressional oversight,” House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) wrote. “The Administration’s lack of transparency is even more troubling in light of press reports about Iran’s direct role in this weekend’s horrific attack on Israel by Hamas and additional revelations that former Special Envoy for Iran (SEI), Robert Malley, and members of his negotiating team may have had compromising ties to the Iranian regime.”
After the massacre of Israelis by Hamas on October 7, Biden administration officials tried to defend their unfreezing of $6 billion dollars’ worth of frozen Iranian assets, saying that Iran would only use the funds for humanitarian purposes. But critics asserted that the money was fungible, allowing Iran to funnel freed-up money to terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
